Wexford hurlers could be boosted by the return of Diarmuid Lyng ahead of the Leinster championship.

Lyng was believed to be doubtful for the remainder of the year having contacted a viral infection that forced him to miss the entire league campaign.

Wexford manager Liam Dunne revealed that the player has actually travelled to Australia in a bid to overcome the illness.

"Gizzy has gone to Australia and he's getting treatment for his viral problem while he's over there," Dunne told the Wexford People.

"Hopefully, he'll get it sorted out in Australia and he'll then be in a position to get back training with us in a short time after he returns home. And all going well, he will be available for our championship opener with Dublin."
