Huge turnout in farewell to popular Wexford native

A huge number of mourners gathered at Clonard Church on Saturday to pay their respects to popular Wexford man Danny Morris.
Danny (67), of 10 Liam Mellows Park, died at Wexford General Hospital on Thursday, August 13, following a short illness. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Davitt Road, 43 years ago Danny married his beloved wife Eithne (nee Giltrap) from Whiterock View.
Danny was a simple, devoted family man, who dearly loved his wife and children, while he also adored his thirteen grandchildren.
He was a well-known figure in Wexford, where he loved to be out and about walking, but always stopping along the way to meet and greet friends and neighbours, chatting to everyone.
He was often accompanied by Mick Smith, who along with Jazzer Kinsella, was one of Danny's best friends. He also loved taking his grandchildren for walks.
Danny loved meeting people and he was a very popular man. He knew everyone and everyone knew him.
He had a keen interest in the GAA and backed horses, while he also enjoyed quiz shows on television. He also loved heading out for a pint, but this was more due to the socialising than the drinking.
Danny was a regular at The Mayflower and Whitford House Hotel. Due to his love of horse racing he was also a familiar figure in Boylesports on Whitemill Road.
He was involved with the GAA locally and was a member of the score board team at Wexford Park before it was replaced by an electronic version.
Danny enjoyed being involved in his local community and was also a committee member of the Liam Mellows Park Playscheme.
He got on very well with people of all ages and was like the Pied Piper of Liam Mellows, bring all the young kids off for excursions to the forest that became known as the "green forest".
Danny, who worked in Springs in Maudlintown and CPM in the Whitemill industrial estate, was a good and loyal friend, as well as a caring neighbour. He was very obliging and would gladly do anything for his family and friends.
His Requiem Mass was celebrated in Clonard Church on Saturday, August 15. The number of mourners in attendance reflected the high esteem in which he was held.
His son-in-law Liam, on behalf of Eithne, and his son Donal, on behalf of the family, paid moving tributes to Danny.
Danny will be sadly missed by his loving wife Eithne, his daughters Marie, Theresa, Fiona, Susan and Martina, his sons Billy, Donal and Robert, his mother Maisie, his brother Toddy, His sisters Bernie, Ann and Mary, his sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, his thirteen grandchildren, relatives and many friends. May he rest in peace.
