Wexford look set to have to plan without Barry O'Connor for their Leinster SFC opener.

O'Connor broke his thumb while playing for the county under-20 side in a recent challenge match.

Paul McLoughlin's charges take on Laois at Innovate Wexford Park on May 12th and it looks as if the game will come too soon for the St Martin's clubman.

O'Connor scored the winning point for Wexford against Dublin in this year's O'Byrne Cup and the youngster back will be sorely missed for the championship opener.

Wexford's league form saw them relegated straight back to Division Four, where they will be replaced by Laois who won the NFL 4 final.
