The late Joe Clarke The death took place in Beaumont hospital Dublin on Friday June 9th 2006, of Joe Clarke Beaumont Dublin. Born and raised in Cloghan 71 years ago, Joe attended the local National School and then went as a boarder to complete his education in St. Finian's College in Mullingar. Coming from Cloghan it was only natural that he would play football and this he did with the local club and while in Mullingar he own a Leinster Colleges Football medal and later he was successful in securing a place with Offaly at minor level. He returned to Cloghan after his education was complete and taught in the local school for a short while. Later he decided to move and work in Baldonnell where he remained for some years before joining the air force in England. Training there as a pilot, Joe flew the 'Spitfire' places on many occasions. Some years later, he returned to Ireland and took up work with Aer Lingus but he eventually found his way back to where he started out from, in Baldonnell . He retired from the workforce about five years ago, but took up part time teaching in Bolton Street College a he wasn't a man to sit still but loved to keep busy and the mind occupied. After concelebrated Mass on Tuesday June 13th, 2006 internment took place in Dardistown Cemetery Dublin. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife and son, his brothers Frank (Cloghan), Willie (Carlow), Vincent (Tullamore), sister Alice (Wexford), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
