Challenge v Clonbullogue

We played Offaly side Clonbullogue in a challenge match at St. James' Park last Saturday evening. After a close game, the visitors prevailed on a 0-12 to 0-9 scoreline. Thanks to Clonbullogue for travelling and to Alan McCormack for refereeing.

Reunion

To coincide with the Kilbeggan Knighthood Festival, a reunion for our 1965 and '72 junior championship winning teams will take place at Kilbeggan Racecourse on Sunday, June 2. Invitations have been sent out and the organising committee are hoping as many as possible can attend what promises to be a great occasion.

The 1965 panel was: Michael O'Grady, Sean Byrne, Mattie Corcoran, Jimmy Lynagh, Mick Connolly (RIP), Martin Moran, Pat Scally, Kieran Coffey, Mal Guilfoyle, Bernard Kavanagh, Ned 'Dinger' Bruer (RIP), Sean McCormack, Dan Scally, John Clavin, Seamus Scally, Des O'Neill, Pat McCormack, Paddy Barry, Jim Ryan, Tom Grooms, Oliver Clavin and Liam Clavin.

The 1972 panel was: Eamonn Gorry, Jim Ryan, Seamus Egan, Dominic Scally, Benny Scally, Sean McCormack, Joe Whelan (RIP), Kieran Coffey, Jim Guilfoyle, Sean Gallagher, Tom McClelland, Seamus McClelland, Richie Keoghan, John Kinahan, Martin Duignam, Laurence McCormack, Tom Scally, Art Egan, Tom Cantwell, Peter Harte, Mick Connolly (RIP), Brendan Fox, Joe Dunne, Dan Scally and Damien Ryan.

Louth hurlers

The Louth hurlers stopped off at St. James' Park for a "puck around" en route to the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence near Ballyhaunis for their Nicky Rackard Cup quarter-final against Roscommon last Saturday. Captained by Kilbeggan man Shane Fennell and managed by former Westmeath star Pat Clancy, the Wee County were defeated by 0-13 to 2-14.
