Community Games
Well done to the Castlepollard Community Games Hurling Team and mentors who defeated Cullion in the final on Friday May 4th. Having won the semi final match against St Muana's we faced last years champions DLBC (Castletown Geoghegan) in the decider. The game started off very lively with both teams having their chances. Castlepollard led at the break by 4 points. After the break Pollard had a period of domination that yielded a lot of scores which sealed it for the town. In particular Ben Gibbons' move to full forward was the catalyst for this where he was unstoppable. He was ably assisted by all other forwards while the midfield, marshalled ably by David Devine kept the supply going in. The backs worked very hard for the full game and Darragh McCormack in goals was solid throughout. The team were presented with their medals after the game and will now represent Westmeath at the Leinister stage.
