Dessie Dolan has refused to close the door on his Westmeath football career.
The 2004 All Star forward, who turns 33 in July, recently declined an invitation to re-join Pat Flanagan's squad after an exhaustive All-Ireland club campaign with Garrycastle, prompting speculation that he had played his last game for the Lake County.
But speaking to the Irish Sun, Dolan refused to rule out the prospect of him returning to the Westmeath colours later in the summer. The midlanders will begin their Leinster SFC campaign against Louth in Navan next Sunday without their talisman.
"I'm a bit like Elvis, I'm just having a break at the minute," he said.
"I felt I couldn't give the commitment to go again after basically 40 months in-a-row. And I felt the fact that the lads survived Division 2, they did quite well and there is a lot of good talent coming through.
"I felt I needed to take a break myself, it might change in a couple of weeks and I might get my appetite back."
