Intermediate Championship
Raharney played Brownstown in the second round of the intermediate championship in Cusack Park on Sunday evening last. Aided by a very strong wind in the first half Raharney started brightly and good points from Dan Riggs and Joey Boyle had Raharney leading by 6 points to no score after 15 minutes. In the 23rd minute Adam Sheils made a vital interception in the Raharney square and his clearence found Stephen Morley in midfield who passed to Joey Boyle who rounded his man and scored a great goal. Raharney added further points from John Sheils to lead 0-08 to 0-00 at half time. Playing against the strong wind in the second half Raharney attacked from the throw in and Joey Boyle scored a quality point from a tight angle. Raharney dominated defensively for the second half with Tony Doyle particularly prominent and in the end Raharney recorded a 1-12 to 0-03 victory. The Raharney team lined out as follows J Greville, J Kennedy, P Mullen, D Carey, T Doyle, M Glennon, A Sheils, D Mullen, S Morley, B Aughey, J Sheils, S Farrelly, D Riggs, J Boyle, J Gorman. Membership
All players that have not paid their membership are requested to pay their membership for 2012. The membership fee covers costs such as affiliation, insurance and referees expenses. The membership fee for 2012 is €20 and this may be paid to Registrar Paddy Connnaughton or any member of the committee.
Intermediate Hurling Championship
Raharney will play Ringtown in the next round .This fixture has not been made but will most likely take place on the first weekend in June.
Leinster Seniot Hurling Championship
Best of luck to Westmeath who take on Antrim next Saturday at 3 PM in Cusack Park.
Tractor Draw
Tickets are selling well for the vintage Massey Ferguson 135 that is being raffled by the club to raise funds for the Joristown Park development project. Tickets are €5 each or book of 5 for €20. Tickets are on sale locally from shops and businesses or from any committee member. Your support is much appreciated.
