County Board Meeting
A meeting of the County Board took place on Tuesday 8th May. Delegates were advised that the new rule changes take effect from 1st June 2012 and were asked to advise members of same. A copy of the new rules is available on the administration page of the camogie website www.camogie.ie.
Regional Development Officer, Lizzie Flynn, gave details of a Fundamentals course which she had run in the Lough Lene Gaels Club. The Lough Lene Gaels delegate said there had been a great response to the course and that it had been a huge sucess. It was suggested that further fundamental courses might be run between 2 or 3 clubs in September.
Chairperson, Olive Leonard, drew delegates attention to the booklet 'Code of Behaviour when working with underage players' which was distributed at the recent Code of Ethics course. This Code is also available to download from the camogie website.
Raharney were congratulated on winning the county Feile title for a second year in a row and were wished well in July when they represent Westmeath in the national finals.
The PRO vacancy on the Executive was filled by the election of Michéle Kirby.

County Junior Team
The County Junior Team bowed out of the Leinster Championship when they were defeated by Meath in Pairc Tailteann in Navan on Sunday last. Westmeath went in 1-08 to 1-05 up at half time having played with the wind. Unfortunately at the final whistle the girls were on the end of a 2-15 to 1-10 defeat.

Under 12 Go Games
On Saturday 19th May the final of the U12 go-game blitzs will be held in Castlepollard. Games will commence at 11am and and finish at 2pm approximately.
All clubs are asked to bring a referee with them and any club unable to travel should contact the Castlepollard Club as soon as possible in order that games can be refixed.
Under 12 Mini League
The U12 Mini League kicks off on Wednesday 23rd May. In Division 1 the fixtures are Clonkill v Castletown Geoghegan, St. Munnas v Crookedwood, Lough Lene Gaels v St. Oliver Plunketts, Brownstown have a bye. In Divison 2 its Raharney v
Castlepollard, Longford v Delvin, Drumraney v Cullion and St. Bridgets have a bye. Games are at 6:30 and normal 12 a-side rules apply. Home side to provide referee.
Under 14 Championship
There were a number of games played in the U14 championship last week. In the Premier Div 1 Raharney defeated Lough Lene Gaels, the game between Clonkill and Crookedwood was postponed due to a bereavement. In Premier Div 2 Castletown Geoghegan defeated Delvin and St. Munnas defeated Brownstown whilst in the 'A' competition Longford defeated St. Oliver Plunketts, Castlepollard defeated Drumraney and Cullion overcame St. Bridgets.
There were a number of games fixed for Monday 14th May as set out in last week's notes - results next week.
The fixtures for May 21st are: Premier Div 1 - Lough Lene Gaels v Crookedwood; Clonkill v Raharney. Premier Div 2 - Delvin v Brownstown; St. Munnas v Castletown Geoghegan. There are no games fixed for the U14 'A' competition however clubs
are advised to use the free week to re-fix any matches which remain outstanding.
Under 16 Championship.
There were three Premier division matches fixed the Under 16 championship last week. St. Brigids defeated Castletown Geoghegan, Raharney defeated Lough Lene Gaels and Crookedwood defeated Clonkill.
Apart from re-fixtures all teams have a break until after exams and the last round in both competitions will be on 29 June.
Intermediate League
Drumraney and Crookedwood played out a draw in a rescheduled game in the Intermediate League.
Junior and Senior 9-a-side league.
During the break in the Intermediate League and Junior and Senior Championships the clubs will have an opportunity to continue playing games through the next five weeks in the Junior and Senior Leagues. Round one is fixed for Wednesday 16th May. In the Junior games St. Brigid's play at home to St. Oliver Plunkett's and Crookedwood will host Drumraney (Brownstown have a bye). In the Senior the games fixed are Delvin v Cullion; St. Munna's v Castletown Geoghegan; Lough Lene Gaels v Clonkill.
Camogie development in Athlone Community College
On Friday, April 27th last a development day took place in Athlone Community College. The day consisted of skill development and games between two new schools namely, Athlone Community College and Moate Community College.
During the year Transition Year students in Athlone Community College completed the foundation camogie coaching course. Two students, Claire O'Brien and Louise Finneran then used the skills they learned on the course to train the 1st year camogie team in the school as part of the Gaisce programme. To complete the year the development blitz was organised between Athlone Community College and Moate.
Well done to both schools on a great day of camogie. Well done and thanks to the Transition Year students and a special thanks to Claire O'Brien and Louise Finneran for their great work with the fist year camogie team. Finally, thanks to Patricia
