Facilities Closure for COVID-19

Last Wednesday we received the instruction from Croke Park to completely close all facilities at our grounds. With the subsequent introduction of the series of strict measures on Friday evening, this is now another appropriate step to protect our members and all patrons of our club in the fight to curb the spread of Covid-19. We hope that this action, combined with all the other measures being taken, will mean that we can reopen our gates sooner. We want to ensure that nobody in the community is left isolated at any stage so if anyone out there needs prescriptions or shopping collected or you need some assistance, then please don't hesitate to contact any of our club members. Take care and keep safe.

Club Lotto

Our weekly club lotto has been postponed until further notice. All subscription entries will be entered in the next lotto draw when scheduled.

Club Membership

Membership for 2020 is now due. Rates are unchanged from last year with options available to suit individuals and families for gym, full and social membership.

Sympathy

The club extends it's deepest sympathy to the Gavigan and Newman families, Tyrrellspass on the terribly sad passing of Willie Gavigan and his partner Jean Newman. News of Wille's passing came as a shock to our community late last week and Tyrrellspass and the wider community had barely come to terms with this sad news when the news that Willies long term fiancee, Jean, had also passed away. Willie Gavigan was a regular supporter of our club down the years when he ran his popular bar on the main street in Tyrrellspass and most recently both Willie and Jean had supported us by buying tickets for our national club draw. May they both Rest in Peace.

Ag Feachaint Siar

As we mark our 100 year anniversary this year, we have been regularly posting old club photos on our social media pages. We will also include some of our old news paper reports with this weeks dating back to 13th May, 1989:

Fr Callery Cup; Ballinagore 2-08 Ballinabrackey (Meath) 2-03

On Sunday last we had a good win in the Ballinabrackey tournament. Played on a very warm afternoon, the football was fast and furious. Ballinagore had four goal chances in the first fifteen minutes. Jim Mahon and John Pidgeon both hit the crossbar while Sean Robinson and Brendan Robinson both missed chances. The latter was fouled for a penalty but Mahon's shot went over for a point. Ballinabrackey looked good at times in the first half but their forwards could not convert possession into scores. John Pidgeon was flying for Ballinagore and three different markers could not prevent him from scoring 2-03 from play. Team: Tim O'Connor, Sean Claffey, Ger Linnane, Pat Seery, John Durkan, Rory O'Brien, Ciaran Daly, Gerry Claffey (Snr), Sean Robinson, Tony Robinson, Brendan Robinson, Jimmy Marshall, John Pidgeon, Jim Mahon, Cristoir Ennis. Subs: Paul Baker, Martin Seery, Jarlath Mahon, Peter Robinson and Damien Gannon.

On Saturday evening next our Junior B team play Maryland in the championship. The game is in Ballynacargy at 7.30. This is a very important game fror Ballinagore as Maryland are one of the stronger teams in our division.
