Ballinagore GAA Notes

ACFL Division 3

Ballinagore 0-08  The Downs 2-11

We lost out to a strong visiting The Downs side on Sunday evening. Our lads played very well in the first half and were very unfortunate to concede a goal with virtually the last kick of the ball to trail by 2-02 to 0-05 at the break. The Downs had the better of things in the second half but our lads played with great spirit to the end. Team: Marty Linnane, David Slevin, Enda Claffey, Robbie Keegan, Finian Heeney, Brendan Heeney, David Keegan, Ian Seery, Frankie Deegan, Enda Kenny, Cormac Deegan, Paddy Ennis, Michael Ennis, Brandon Carey, Darren Rigney. Subs uses: Cathal Ennis, Declan Claffey. Rest of Panel: Tommy Kelly, Cathal Tynan.

U14 Football League

Our U14 footballers have qualified for the Division 2 League final following a comprehensive victory over Millmore Gaels last Wednesday week. They play local rivals Kilbeggan/St. Josephs in this final which takes place in Páirc Chiaráin, Athlone on Wednesday evening, 13th June, at 18:45. Well done to all so far and we wish the team and their mentors the very best of luck in the final!

U12 Football Finals Day

Our U12 team play Delvin on Tuesday 19th June at 7pm in Cusack Park. This is normally the first time most players get the opportunity to play in our county grounds and is always a well run and hugely enjoyable experience for all.

U10 Football Blitz

On Tuesday 5th June Lilliput Gaels hosted their second consecutive U10 blitz with this one taking place in Ballinagore. On another glorious evening for football, teams from Tyrrellspass, Maryland/Tang and Castledaly took part. LIlliput Gaels played one of two Tyrrellspass teams in the first game and in the second game took on a strong Castledaly team, with some great scores taken by both teams and the game will no doubt benefit the team. Next blitz takes place in Drumaney on Tuesday 12th June.

Eoin Miller Memorial Tournament

We are looking forward to a big turnout at the official opening and dedication of our new facilities to our friend, Eoin Miller, on Saturday 23rd June. Eoin, who sadly passed away in November, was a lifelong member of our club and was central to many of our successes on and off the field. We hope that this dedication of our new sports and fitness centre to Eoin is a fitting tribute to the big man. Eoin was always one step ahead of most. Ever before strength and conditioning became a staple of the club game, Eoin had established a gym many years ago in one of the rooms in our old building. Over time, he had acquired various pieces of equipment, developed training plans, rules and instructions for using equipment etc. No doubt, Eoin would be very proud of the facilities we are officially opening on Saturday 23rd June! We hope that you can come along to support our club along with Eoin's family and friends and celebrate the memory of our great friend.
