Daniels, Bill

July 20, 2007
The Late Bill Daniels The death occurred at Waterford Regional Hospital, following a short illness of Bill Daniels, late of Lougdaheen. His funeral arrived from Thompsons Funeral home to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Dunhill, and was received by Rev Fr. Garrett Desmond, Rev. Fr Gerard Purcell and Rev. Fr Joe Flynn. Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Garrett Desmond. Burial was in ad joining cemetery. The esteem and popularity of the family was evident by the large concourse of mourners from the four provinces who attended the funeral ceremonies. Bill worked with the E.S.B from which he retired a few years ago. A staunch G.A.A. man, Bill played hurling and football for club and county and fittingly his coffin was draped with the Dunhill and Waterford jerseys which he wore with pride. He was a member of the Waterford football team who recorded the famous victory over Kerry fifty years ago, a game still remembered and talked about half a century on. The racing page was the most important page in the daily paper and Bill enjoyed a little wager now and then. The Waterford and Kerry friends will all miss Da and his rendering of Dingle Bay at Dunhill Night in Ballylongford during Listowel Races which he and Maureen attended every year. We extend sincere sympathy to his wife Maureen, son Liam Og, daughter Catherine, grandchildren, Brian, Cormac, Gary, Donna and Karen, daughter in law Catherine, son in law, Willie and brother Michael.
