The late Mary Lalor It is with profound sadness and sense of loss that we record the passing of Mary Lalor, 12 Walsh's Place Kilmacthomas, on Tuesday, 26th September, 2006. A native of Co. Laois, Mary spent the last 61 years of her life in Kilmacthomas. She was predeceased by her husband Paddy and in more recent times her son Patie. Mary was a quiet, gentle and inoffensive lady, held in high esteem by all who knew her. She devoted her life to rearing her 10 sons and 3 daughters, and adored her 30 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was a person of deep faith and had a great devotion to Our Lady and the Rosary. Always a very gracious person, Mary was very appreciative of the are given to her by all who cared for her. She had a keen interest in the GAA and was a former Honourary President of Kilmacthomas GAA Club. She possessed many fine qualities and was kind and charitable to all who knew her. Her passing is much regretted. Mary's remains lay in repose at her residence where prayers and the Rosary where offered. Removal to All Saints church, Newtown, where they were received and blessed by Fr Liam Holmes, PP, and Fr Brendan Crowley, PP. A large number of neighbours and friends turned out to pay their respects and offer condolences to the family. Concelebrated Mass was offered for the happy repose of her soul. Chief celebrant was Fr. Liam Homes, PP, a life long friend of the family, while Fr B Crowley, PP, Fr Garrett Desmond, CC, Fr Michael Enright, PP and Fr Larry Wallace, PP were co-celebrants. Fr M Cleere, PP also attended the Mass. The liturgy of the Word was read by Donny Lalor and Denise Cantwell and the prayers of the faithful were shared by Aoife Lalor, Ciara Mansfield, Joyce Lalor and David Hallihan. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Aisling, Eoin and John Lalor. Vicki Lalor recited a beautiful poem after Communion. Beautiful hymns were sung by Mala Raggat and family friend Desie Norris. After Requiem Mass, her coffin was borne shoulder high by her sons, where she was laid to rest with her husband Paddy. Many beautiful floral tributes were laid on her grave. The chief mourners were her sons Seamus, Donal, Michael, Eamonn, Fintan, Joe, John, Peter, Martin; her daughters Maureen, Kathleen, Ann Marie; brother Michael; sister Kathleen, along with her large extended family including sons in laws, daughters in laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many life long friends and neighbours.
