The Late John Flynn It is with sadness and deep regret we record the death of John Flynn, Caheruane, Kill, who died at his residence on 13 May. His remains were removed on Saturday evening to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Kill. Upon arrival, members of the Kill GAA club, of which John was the longest serving member, formed a guard of honour and carried his coffin with club jersey placed on top to the church. His remains were received and blessed by Fr.Callanan and Fr. Crowley, PP. Requiem Mass was celebrated on Sunday by Fr Callanan, the readings were by his son, John, and daughters, Kay and Jenny. Prayers of the faithful were shared by his daughter, Margaret, nieces, grandson and relative, Aine Kelly. Gifts and symbols representing John's life were carried to the altar by his grandsons, Patrick, John and William. His son, Niall, sisters, Alice and Nan, brought the bread and wine. A narration were given by his daughter, Jenny. During Mass, many beautiful hymns were sung by member of the Portlaw church choir, accompanied by organist, Nuala Kavanagh. At the Holy Communion, Teddy Barry on the accordion played one of John's favourite tunes, Horses and Plough." After Mass, interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. Final prayers were recited by Fr Callanan and many beautiful wreaths were laid on his grave. Finally appropriate for John, "Outside" the chapel gate - Core na Lare' were played by Teddy Barry. There was a very large congregation representing family, relatives and friends who came to pay their final respects to John and to support his family on their sad loss. Our sincere sympathy is extended to his wife, Joan; sons, John and Niall, daughters, Kay, Margaret and Jenny, brothers, sisters, son-in-law, grandchildren,brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and many friends.
