Power, John

John Power R.I.P.

On Thursday morning last we said a sad goodbye to one of our longest serving and most dedicated club men. John O'Crough as he will always be lovingly remembered by us was a man who suffered throughout his life. Throughout all of his trials and tribulations John never moaned or complained.

He lived his life in quiet dignity and gave his all to his beloved maroon and white. John, along with his dear friends Paddy Moore and Tommy Mickel Power were solely responsible for keeping football alive in our club for many years. Fittingly Paddy and Tommy bore some of the gifts for the Mass. The words spoken at the mass by both Fr Flynn and his dear friend Paddy Finucane summed up all that John was.

A quiet spoken unassuming man of great intellect with a sharp sense of humour, but above all a man that in all honesty did not have a single bad bone in his body. He bore no malice to any man and lived his life by the code of his deeply loved church. John's funeral guard of honour saw players and members from all ages of the club bid him farewell. He touched all of us deeply throughout his life who were honoured to know him and we will never forget him.

John joins his beloved Mary and although it is no immediate comfort to his sister Kitty or his brother Ted and his extended family John's pain and suffering is gone now and he is truely at peace.
