Moylan, Nora

May 24, 2011
It is with deep sadness we record the passing of Nora Moylan, 55 Caseyville, Dungarvan which sad event occurred recently at Dungarvan Community Hospital. Nan who had reached her 99th birthday had a long, happy and very fulfilling life. A member of the Power family of Ballincoush, she hailed from farming stock. As early as 14 years of age, she joined the staff of Mulcahy's Drapery to serve her apprenticeship and having completed it went to London and stayed one year before returning home. She then took up a position with Cummins Drapery in O'Connell Street and it was there she met Christy Moylan who would be her husband for fifty three years. She took immense pride in his hurling and football accomplishments, never more so than when he played a major role in Waterford's historic first All-Ireland Senior title win in 1948.
Despite her advancing years she continued to enjoy life and looked forward to nothing more than reading her daily newspaper. She took great satisfaction too from watching her favourite programmes on television.
As a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother she was the very best. Her home was her pride and joy and she always kept it in spick and span condition. She was a lady who was laden with goodness and kindness and will be remembered for her devotion to her faith, her generosity of spirit and most of all, she will be remembered as a lady with an every-present smile. While there is an inevitable sadness at her passing, we are consoled by the many delighted memories of a supreme lady. May she rest in peace. Nora will be greatly missed and mourned by her son, John; daughters,Kay Long and Mary Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Irene, sons-in-law, Dave Long and Michael Cunningham, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and many friends.
