Ormonde, Delia

January 17, 2012
Delia Ormonde of New Street, Lismore, who passed peacefully away last week at the fine age of ninety one, was mother of former county hurling star Michael "Ducky" Ormonde who for so long served the Deise with considerable distinction as a lethal scoring forward.

"Ducky's" brothers, Richie and Billy, also donned the club and county jersies with considerable pride, and the trio represent one of the greatest GAA families ever involved with the local club.

Delia herself was a GAA person through and through as indeed was her late husband Michael, and she justifiably prided herself in the hurling exploits of all of her three sons. No surprise at all then that there was such a formidable GAA presence at her removal on Thursday night last and at her funeral Mass and burial last Friday.
Particcularly significant too was the vast representation from so many "outside" clubs countywide. It was a fitting and richly deserved final tribute to this staunch GAA lady.

Our sincerest sympathy is extended to the entire Ormonde family on their sad loss. Believe me the Lismore club has lost one of its finest supporters. Go ndeine Dia trocaire ar a h-anam dilis.
