Michael Ryan has laughed off suggestions that De La Salle are unhappy with his appointment.

The new Waterford hurling boss managed the city club to county and provincial championship successes last year but there have been rumblings that De La Salle were unhappy that he got the county job. Ryan comments in today's Irish Mirror:

"I was a bit amused first and then I was a bit disappointed. If you heard Stevie Brenner on the radio, I think he put that to rest.

"I never had any problem with any of the De La Salle players or any of the De La Salle executive. I had a fantastic time down there."

Ryan is at a loss as to how the rumours started: "I don't know where they came from. I don't think it's even worth trying to guess.

"There were no problems in the wide earthly world. We had a fantastic season. We came within one breaking ball of maybe winning an All-Ireland.

"I don't have any clue but I think it's something that needs to be put to rest."
