Fitzy expects Cats to shade it

Waterford manager Davy Fitzgerald is expecting Cork to push Kilkenny all the way in tomorrow's All-Ireland hurling semi-final.

But he doesn't think Denis Walsh's underdogs will have enough to derail the Cats' five-in-a-row All-Ireland ambitions.

"I do give Cork a chance, more than most, but I think the Cats will just shade a tight game," said Fitzgerald, who plotted Cork's downfall after a replay in the Munster final.

"They will have to dig deep and I cannot see more than four points in the end.

"The Cats have been dominant in hurling for nearly five years now and they spook a lot of sides before a ball is even thrown in. But Cork never worry about too much about the opposition, even when everyone else has them as massive underdogs.

"There are a few older guys in the team now, but they have never let the side down. They will know that they can create history by being the team to stop Kilkenny's five-in-a-row - and that's an important motivating factor.

"The big thing is how much pressure their forwards can put on the Cats' backs and how much they can score."
