Passing of a Dungarvan GAA stalwart - Terry Dalton

The GAA in the county lost another stalwart personality last week with the death of Terry Dalton of Dungarvan who was in his 90th year when he passed peacefully away in a Cork city hospital.
The GAA, the Dungarvan club, and the Waterford teams in all grades and in both codes had been central to Terry's life literally from boyhood. He grew into a Dungarvan legend with the passage of time, and how fitting it was that the blue and white colours of club and county should adorn his coffin on its final journeys last Saturday and Sunday.
An exceptionally fine footballer in his day, Terry won a county senior championship medal with his beloved Old Boro club in 1954, and he was one of the selectors when Waterford brought the All-Ireland senior hurling title to the county in 1959. Four years later he was again a selector when we lost the final to the Kilkenny Cats in a most extraordinarily unlucky way.
Kind and caring, a gentleman to his fingertips, Terry Dalton served the GAA in a most exemplary way, and for as long as the games are played under the banner of the Dungarvan club he will be remembered in the way that he deserves to be.
To his three sisters, his nephews, nieces, and many other relatives sincere sympathy is extended on their sad loss. Go ndeine Dia trocaire ar a anam dílis.
