Appointment of North American National Games Development Coordinator

The GAA announced the appointment of Mary Ruane of Chicago as the National Games Development Coordinator for all of North America. The part time position was created for the overseeing of the annual CYC games and the National Games Development Program in North America. She will report directly to the GAA Director of Games, Pat Daly. Ruane, who has played a major role in the success of the CYC in the role of secretary of it,Äôs Steering Committee, will now be responsible to oversee the entire organization of the CYC games going forward. CYC responsibilities will include: - Team Registration - Preparation of a budget and reports on Income/Expenditure - Formation of Games Program - Appointment of referee,Äôs and pitch supervisors in conjunction with the CYC Steering Committee. - Organization of Presentations/Parade - Preparation of relevant databases Her major responsibility as National Games Development Coordinator will be overseeing the work of the five current NACB divisional Games Development Administrators (GDA) and any additional GDA,Äôs that may be appointed by the North American, New York and Canadian County Boards. These duties include: - Coordinate work programs with the GDA,Äôs - Maintain relevant databases - Maintain a record of GDA activity - Prepare an annual budget and monthly reports on income and expenditure - Liaise with the North American Hurling Development Coordinator Mary Ruane was born in Middlesex, England. She is married to Adrian Ruan from Athenry Co. Galway and a member of the Chicago Wolfe Tones GFC. They are the parents of four children, Brian (20), Orla (16), Kieran (12) Mairead (8), who play both hurling and football in the Chicago Youth Program. Eamonn Kelly PRO - NACB
