The Buffalo Fenians have won their third straight Midwest Division Junior C Championship, with their win over Rochester Erin's Isle on Sunday June 29th. On a hot and sunny day in Fairport, NY (a suburb of Rochester) Buffalo displayed one of their finest outings yet, with scores coming from players such as Sean Hanley, Bobby Lawn, and Brendan Tunney. Ray Clarke netted a penalty shot in the first half and Buffalo went into the break ahead 1-4 to 0-3.
The second half saw Buffalo come out with a barrage of points, which put them in command of the remainder of the match. Even when Rochester scored a goal off of a penalty shot, Buffalo never lost their focus or momentum. By the time the final whistle was blown, Buffalo had defeated Rochester 1-14 (17) to 1-5 (8) and were once again crowned Midwest Champions. Having swept Rochester 2 games to none in the Championship series, the Buffalo Fenians become the first club who have booked their spot in the NACB Championships in Boston for the Labor Day Weekend.
The Fenians attention now turns back to the Toronto League, as the league returns to action next Sunday after a bye week. Buffalo will now focus on using their remaining league matches to sharpen their skills in preparation for the Finals in Boston. Up the Fenians!
