St Pats Toronto Club Notes

March 12, 2013

The ladies and the men's team that took part in the Toronto St Patrick Day 7's tournament.
History was made this past weekend as the St. Pats ladies took to the fields at Monarch Park Stadium for the St. Patrick day 7's tournament. Playing their inaugural match against defending championship winners, St. Mikes was a big ask, but the girls in Red and White, gave a gutsy performance, which belied their inexperience. Getting a few scores in their next game against a feisty Brampton side, confidence was building as the girls went into their third match against an Ottawa-Montreal combination team. With fantastic scores from Renee Tong, Michelle Nagle, Teresa O'Sullivan and Michelle Gleeson, the girls finished the game level, and got their first point of the day. A tough final match against tournament finalists Durham, would end the day for the team, as they were knocked out of the semi-finals on score difference. Despite not advancing, the team did themselves proud, as for most this was their first Gaelic football match. The men had mixed results, starting strong with a win over Durham Robert Emmets, but ended up also missed out on the semi-finals on score difference. The club would like to thank the Toronto GAA for organizing a fantastic tournament, and also congratulate all the players who took part in this historic day for the club.

Training continues at St. Michael's College (Bathurst and St. Clair) at 12:15pm on Saturday. All members are encouraged to come out to the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday.
