Harlesden Harps club notes

July 19, 2017

Upcoming Fixture:

Harlesden Harps will hope to retain the Shiel Cup when they take on St Brendan's in their eagerly awaited final. After playing each other quite a bit already this season this match offers a big chance to get an early season cup for the club and also to get some much-needed momentum back for the team, so all hands to the pump are needed. The game will take place on Thursday, 20th July at 7:15pm at Ruislip. As usual, make sure you check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and ensure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation for the game.

The team are also out again on Saturday, 22nd July at 4:00pm at Wormwood Scrubs, Artillery Lane (Off Du Cane Road), London, W12 0DF. This final league game is also a must win for the team when they take on the Tara's. Anything other than a win and it's relegation for the team so no excuses for everyone not to be properly ready for a huge game.

The Harps reserve team are out this Wednesday, 19th July at 7:15pm at Wormwood Scrubs, Artillery Lane (Off Du Cane Road), London, W12 0DF. They take on Kingdom Kerry Gaels in their final league fixture. Let's hope for another battling performance and to sign off their competitive league campaign with a victory.

Previous Matches:

Harlesden Harps had their latest league game recently when they took on St Brendan's. Two teams who know each other well this year promised to be yet another close encounter but unfortunately there was only likely to be one winner of this from the off. Brendan's raced into an early lead with a couple of goals and some fine flowing football saw them lead by 5 points at the break. Not many positives for the Harps after the break either who never really looked like forcing their way back into the game, eventually succumbing by eight points. A much better approach and effort is needed on Thursday in the Shiel Cup final if there's to be silverware won for the club.

The Harps reserve team played their latest game of their league campaign with a devastating one point loss to North London Shamrocks recently. A horrible night for football, with torrential rain throughout, the football on show from both sides was a credit to each team. Harps got on top early on and a cool goal finish from Neil Horan had the Harps ahead at half time by a point. They maintained their slender lead for the majority of the second half and it wasn't until the last few minutes when the experience of the senior side saw them get home by the smallest margin, final score of Harps 1-08 Shamrocks 0-12.

Training:

Training continues this week taking place Tuesday at 7:45pm in The Shamrock Club, 307A Horn Lane, Acton, W3 0BP (nearest tube station: North Acton on the Central Line).
