Roger Casements Trip to Templenoe, Co.Kerry and Banna Strand

June 15, 2016

This coming weekend 40 members of the Roger Casements Club from Coventry are undertaking a club trip to County Kerry as part of the clubs ongoing 60th Year Anniversary Celebrations and will be visiting the Templenoe GAA Club for the weekend, home of Pat Spillane and current All Ireland Junior Club Champions.

The club members will travel over on Saturday the 18th June in the morning and will be based in Kenmare for the weekend. The team will play Templenoe CLG on Sunday the 19th in a challenge game for the Timmy Clifford Memorial Cup that the Clifford family are putting up in memory of their late father who is a former Chairman of Templenoe and a former player of Roger Casements. In fact Timmy was the captain of the Roger Casements Championship winning side in 1978 before he returned home to his club where he did great work to ensure the club survived. The game will take place in Templenoe at 12.30pm. The club have taken delivery of a special kit for the Tour and it reverts back to the Clubs original colours when it was formed in 1956 of Amber and Black. The kit has been kindly sponsored by Craig Rollason and his company KNAPP.

As part of our trip and to mark the 100 year Anniversary of the Easter Rising and the landing of Roger Casements at Banna Strand the members of the Roger Casements club will travel to the beach at Banna Strand on Monday to capture an historic photo to mark the clubs visit and to remember the historic anniversary and location for the man our club was named after 60 years ago.

The club would like to extend an invite to all former members living in Kerry and the surrounding areas to call down and meet us in Templenoe over the weekend.
