Derrylaughan Kevin Barry's G.F.C. The Senior footballer's season came to an unfortunate end without a ball being kicked this weekend. Derrylaughan made numerous attempts to re-arrange the date and locations for the fixture but to no avail. It's unfortunate to both Clonoe and Derrylaughan that no game was played, but the County Board were unable to accommodate any change. It still remains unknown whether Derrylaughan's outstanding Reserve fixtures are to be fulfilled and the County Board are still yet to confirm fixtures or dates for the upcoming under 21 season. The Derrylaughan Dinner-Dance has been set for Saturday 10th November in The Greenvale Hotel, Cookstown. Tickets for the event can now be purchased from Peter McGrath, Club Treasurer. Loch Mhic Ruairi Naomh Treasa The Senior team suffered a two point defeat at home to Trillick on Sunday past on a scoreline of 1-10 to 3-6. The side lead by four points at the break but with Trillick scoring two second half goals it ensured the visitors took both points on offer. The Reserve team recorded an excellent 3-9 to 0-8 victory over Trillick to end their season on a winning note. The Senior teams defeat to Trillick means that both teams finished level on point thus ensuring a play off game which will take place this Saturday in Eskra at 2:30pm. A date for the first draw for the newly established Club Loughmacrory will be announced next week and everyone is to be thanked for their support and generosity to date. Lotto numbers drawn last week were 8, 9, 10 and 15. No Jackpot winner. Melissa Harte, Michael Mc Cann and Maeve Mc Anespie each win £20. Augher The Gala: It's hard to believe that with all the talk of the Gala in the pages lately that it is now all over!!! But what a fantastic night it proved to be.  I would like to start by congratulating the Gala Committee who put in a phenomenal amount of work to ensure the night was the brilliant success it turned out to be- well done to you all! Players past and present joined supporters, officials and friends of the Club to help Celebrate this important occasion.  The format of the night included speeches, interviews, the showing of a video club history compilation plus a grand prize draw and a most enjoyable auction with some fantastic and treasured possessions going under the hammer. Also remembered and thanked were those who are longer with us.  A video clip of the Late John Rice, recorded not long before he pasted was both emotional and inspirational and I m sure John's words will act as a beacon to guide our Club forward in the future. It proved to be a very significant social occasion, with people traveling from various parts of the world to join with their family and friends for such a mementos occasion.  Even those unable to be present did not forget about the celebrations, with our young players who now recede in Australia sending a brilliant telegram to the Hotel. The Club wishes to thank members and friends of the Club who purchased tables, our sponsors and everyone who bought tickets and auction items.  A particular thank you to Mahoney Contracting who stepped forward as the main sponsor. Also, thanks to the Clubs who provided the cups won at various times in our History; Dromore, Killyman, Rock and Aghyaran.  I'm sure everyone who attended the Gala are now left with their own treasured memories of the evening. Augher v Aghaloo: It doesn t take me to state how unfair it was that our seniors were made play this important league fixture the day after the Gala but nevertheless they had no other choice. Once again, Aghaloo provided strong opposition and unfortunately we fell short on a score-line of 1-11, 0-12.  We started the game brightly, going 3-0 points in the lead but Aghaloo fought back to level matters and then crept into the lead, a lead they would never relinguish. Augher battled hard but on the day we probably didn t take enough of our chances and now we have a real battle on our hands to remain in the top half of the table.  Our best wishes go to Jarleth Daly for a speedy recovery following a very unsavory incident, which unfortunately was missed by the official. In last week's Lotto the winning numbers were: 1, 7, 9 and 23. There were 3 match three winners; Jean Coates (Clogher), Barry McGirr (Augher) and Phyllis O Hanlon (Clogher) - all receiving £12 each. The jackpot now stands at £3300.The draw continues in Dessie's on Sunday night at 10pm. Tickets are on sale at usual outlets priced £1.00 or ¬1.50. Change to the 100 Club Draw: The Committee wishes to let the members of the 100 Club draw know that the Draw will now commence at the later stage - the end of November, and not the end of October as anticipated. Anyone wishing to join the draw should contact Cathal McGirr for further details. Mrs. Ann Lennon and Mrs. Mary Treanor wish to thank most sincerely all members from Aughadarragh Road who have paid so generously towards the Annual October collection for Marie Curie Cancer Care.  The total amount raised was £428.30. Well done to Caolan McQuaid who took part in the mini games during the County Final a fortnight ago and also to young Aidan Connolly who refereed on the day. It's great to see representatives from our Club show off their talents on such a big occasion. Cormac Donnelly has worked extremely hard in setting up the Clogher Valley Marie Curie Committee and wishes to remind its members that their first meeting will take place on the 7th of November in Askins restaurant, Ballygawley at 8.00pm. The group will assist in organising fundraising events, etc... for Marie Curie Cancer Care and proves to be very rewarding and fulfilling. There is still places available so anyone interested in joining this Committee or if you simply require any further information, please contact Cormac on (028) 855 48053. THE SCOR: The Scór programme for Tyrone for the current season will commence at the beginning of November with the Scór na nÓg competitions. Details of this year's competitions are as follows: The preliminary rounds will be held as follows:- Cookstown Parish Hall Friday 2nd November 2007 at 7.30pm; Kildress Parish Hall Saturday 3rd November at 7.00 pm and Dún Uladh Centre, Killyclogher - Sunday 4th November at 6.00 pm. Clubs should attend the venue closest to them for preliminary rounds. Semi Finals will be held in St Patrick's Hall, Strabane on Friday the 9th of November at 7.30pm and the other Semi Final will be held in Eglish on Sunday the 11th of November at 6.00 pm. The final has been fixed for Kileeshil Community Centre on Sunday the 25th of November at 5.00 pm. The Ulster Semi finals will be held in December at venues yet to be decided with the Ulster final being held in the New Year. The Club will be entering in 6 of the 8 competitions on the programme, these are; Ceile dancing, instrumental music recitation, ballad group, novelty act, and quiz. The competitors have been practicing very hard since early September and will compete in Dún Uladh Centre, Killyclogher - Sunday 4th November at 6.00 pm. Transport will be provided for the competitors, further details will follow next week. The next event on the social calendar is the Baazar which will take place on Sunday the 2nd of December in the Youth Centre. There will be an array of valuable prizes, with a prize draw for 1000 litres of heating oil. Tickets for this prize will be on sale locally soon. This is a very valuable prize what with the price of oil being at an all time high and the weather forecasters predicting a very cold winter, so this proves to be a welcome gift in any house! Tickets are only £2 each or 3 for £5- remember if you re not in you can t win!!! The Club would like to wish Finbarr Connolly, originally from Augher, the best of luck as he takes on the Dublin Marathon this Monday, with proceeds in aid of Cancer Care West and Marie Curie Cancer Care.  Sponsor sheets are available at the following locations: Credit Union in Clogher, Costcutters in Augher, Spar in Augher and Unas Salon in Augher.  All support and donations will be very greatly appreciated. I must end with an apology for not having the notes done lastweek but , and a lot of you will understand, that the older you get the longer it takes to fill in them ole flaws and wrinkles- and yes it took the whole day Saturday to sort mine out!! WISHING EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY AND SAFE HALLOWEEN ! St Patricks GFC Donaghmore  A club for all ages: St Patricks GFC get ready to build. In mid November the bulldozers will move in to herald the end of an era and take the first steps in an exciting new one for Donaghmore and its hinterlands of Castlecaulfield and Carland.  For the next year the young footballers of St Patricks GFC, Donaghmore may have to change in temporary and cramped dressing rooms; important team talks may have to be delivered on the youth club stage; and for a short period it just mightn t be as comfortable as it has been at Fr Eamon Devlin Park.  However the footballers like everyone else know that it's a small price to pay and one year is a small timescale to suffer for the fantastic new facilities that the club will have at its disposal.   Club chairman Raymond Mc Cluskey explained the scale of the undertaking:  The club in Donaghmore is at the very centre of community life.  From our foundation 105 years ago the GAA has enriched the lives of the Donaghmore community and that is why today we are now on the verge of building one of the most modern community leisure projects in the country with a large public desire and support for the project the main reason behind its creation.  We knew this was needed. Since its founding in 2003, there has been amazing growth in ladies football in Donaghmore and this coupled with increasing numbers at boys youth levels has presented us with new challenges.    Other factors need considering as well.  The population within the wider Donaghmore area has been rising and this trend is expected to continue over the next 10 years.  Add this to an increasing interest in GAA activities from the burgeoning migrant community and it was obvious that we needed to increase our capacity.   In the future with these new facilities there may be other health and wellness issues in the community that St Patrick's GFC can address and we will be looking at that also with particular emphasis on non playing members. We are fortunate that historically Donaghmore people are action based each generation passed on facilities that little bit better than when they received it.  This generation will not be found wanting either with members offering their various skills, many offering financial support and many both. The entire project is estimated at over £2,000 000 and the contractors are due to move onto site before the end of November.  St Patricks GFC have been heavily involved with their strategic partners within the Donaghmore and District Commmunity Association which will provide the community with the facilities; including the multi sports hall; gymnasium; 6 changing rooms; retail and office space; re enhanced theatre, childcare and youth club facilities. The presentation of the Gold award at last weeks Ulster club and community conference at Stromont hotel was a landmark moment for Donaghmore St Patrick s.  It was the highest possible award for a club with no hurling and camogie teams.  What also helped make the day special was that they were actually asked to present their experiences in relation to the new build in front of the 400 club delegates from clubs around Ulster , the hierarchy of the GAA, some of the funders present and several MLAs who were in attendance a sure vindication of the ambitious plans that St Patrick's GFC has  laid in place for the future. Derrytresk Senior and Reserve Football The Seniors were at home last Sunday to Beragh. After a hard fought game a draw was probably the best result even though the game was there for the taking. Even with the seniors picking up a point the game was marred by a serious injury to one of the senior players. After an accidental collision Michael Hamill suffered a broken leg. Everyone within the club wishes him all the very best and we all hope for a speedy recovery. Final Score Derrytresk 1-7 Beragh 1-7. Derrytresk Scorers : Ronan O Neill 1 -2, Joseph McKee 0-3, Conor O Neill 0-1, Martin McKee 0-1, Kevin Campbell 0-1. The seniors are home to Clogher this Sunday at 2.00pm. All players to report to the club for 1.30pm. Social Club and Members New Derrytresk kit bags are now available. £10 for Large and £15 for Small. The Clubs website is now up and running. Click on www.derrytreskgac.com. The club would like to extend its sympathy to the McCann family, Derryalla on the death of the former player Sean. An Mhaigh Tir na nÓg G.A.C. Notes (week comm 29/10/07) A.C.L. Division 1B Senior An Mhaigh 0-2 Dun Geannain 0-11 Moy seniors ended their season on a disappointing note, last Sunday afternoon, when losing at home to Dungannon Clarkes in a rather tame Division 1B affair. With upwards of ten first team regulars unavailable, it was very much an experimental Moy side which took to the field for this derby fixture in which there was only pride at stake. Dungannon arrived at Pairc Thir na nÓg with a much stronger panel of players and were clearly determined to round off their league campaign with two more points. They displayed greater hunger and capitalised fully on Moy's long absentee list to record a comfortable win. Indeed, the Tir na nOgs lost both league games to Dungannon this season and that is something which the Moy men will hope to rectify when the sides next meet in the Intermediate grade in 2008. Among those making their senior debuts for Moy last weekend were young Nathan Brady and Adrian O'Neill. Nathan had a very impressive game between the sticks, making two outstanding saves and keeping a clean sheet, while Adrian got some invaluable experience at this level when introduced to the Moy defence midway through the second half. Meanwhile, veteran Ciaran Campbell was made honorary captain for the day and regular shot-stopper Adrian Jordan turned target-man when making a rare appearance at full forward. The Sky Blues played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half but it was a highly motivated Dungannon who sped into a 0-4 to 0-0 lead after only seven minutes. The visitors, however, failed to score again for the remainder of this half as Moy's severely depleted troops dominated possession but were wayward in their shooting. Ryan O'Neill opened his side's account with a point from play in the 15th minute and Mickey McCullagh added another from a free-kick soon after, but this was as good as it got for the homesters who kicked eight wides in this half and also had a goal-bound shot from Ryan O'Neill well saved. Half-Time Score: Moy 0-2 Dungannon 0-4. The writing was on the wall for the riverside men at the start of the second half. Trailing by two points and now facing into the elements, there was to be no way back. A rampant Dungannon had it all their own way during this period, scoring seven points without reply and cruising to an emphatic victory. The closest Moy came to scoring after the break was when teenager Conall Laverty had a shot saved by the Clarkes net-minder towards the end of the third quarter. Final Score: Moy 0-2 Dungannon 0-11. Team & Scorers: Nathan Brady; Philip McQuade, Francie McQuade, Mark Donnelly; Declan Cavanagh, Tommy McNicholl, Adam Currie; Ryan Mellon and Mark Jordan; Mickey McCullagh (0-1, 1 free), Ryan O'Neill (0-1), Niall Conlon; Conall Laverty, Adrian Jordan, Ciaran Campbell. Subs used: James Devlin (25 mins) and Adrian O'Neill (47 mins). End of Season Report So, a long season has finally come to an end for our senior team. Having faced many setbacks, including not always being able to select from a full squad of players in what was a critical year in terms of league restructuring, the players and management can still reflect on some very positive performances. Despite the loss of our four county players for a long part of the season, we did still manage to finish in a creditable fifth position in Division 1B. Of course, it was a major disappointment not to have secured one of the top four placings that would have given us a great chance of preserving our senior status. However, with a new season will come fresh hope, and this squad of Moy players will now take time to regroup and plan ahead for what will be a challenging year in Division Two. 2008 is also our club's Centenary Year, so the incentive is clearly there to mark it in style by achieving success in the Intermediate grade and making it back into the senior ranks. Moy's Overall League Record in Division 1B for 2007: Played 22, Won 9, Drawn 2, Lost 11, Points 20. More Success for Sean Sean Cavanagh was once again the toast of Moy, last Saturday evening, when he turned in a superb performance to help Ulster win the Inter-Pro Final at floodlit Croke Park. His switch to midfield for the start of the second half had a huge bearing on the game and inspired the northern province to claim a fully deserved victory over Munster's star-studded outfit. Well done also to Sean's county colleague and 'captain fantastic', Conor Gormley, who was outstanding for Ulster in defence and had the honour of lifting the Inter-Pro trophy for his province. The Tyrone duo were at the heart of this Ulster success and proved that they are both true All-Star players. GAA Courses The following Ulster Council CPD courses will take place over the coming weeks: Saturday 3rd November - 'Ladies FUNdamentals', Killyclogher; Monday 5th November - 'Media Skills Training', Loughry College; Wednesday 7th November - 'Fine tuning the female athlete' , MUSA, Cookstown'; Monday 12th November - 'Effective Team Management', Loughry College. Those club members seeking further information and who are interested in attending any of the aforementioned courses should contact An Runai Mary Daly. Please note that all evening courses will commence at 7:30pm. Snippets The newly revamped club website is proving to be a big hit with members and friends. Check out the new archive section under club history, listing each set of weekly notes from 2004 and featuring the entire programme of the Official Opening and Blessing of Pairc Thir na nÓg in 1998. The guestbook is also up and running again, allowing people to both view and post messages. Log onto www.moy-gfc.com Please note that our main playing pitch at Pairc Thir na nÓg is now closed until further notice. To help preserve the main pitch and allow important work to continue on our new training field, all players and coaches are asked to adhere to this important club notice. Go raibh maith agaibh. Forthcoming Events The club will be holding a special Youth Presentation Evening, to honour all of our male and female underage teams, in Moy Parochial Hall on Friday 23rd November at 7.30pm. As well as presenting the various Player of the Year awards, the club will be officially honouring our victorious (boys) Under 16 squad which won the Tyrone Grade Three Juvenile championship title earlier this month. The Annual Mass for Deceased Members of An Mhaigh Tir na nOg G.A.C. will be celebrated in St. John's Church, Moy on Saturday 24th November at 7.30pm. Meanwhile, the club's main Annual Dinner Dance and Presentation Night will be held in Kelly's Inn, Ballygawley on Friday 30th November. Among the distinguished guests at this year's event will be the Moy senior football squad of 1982. It is the 25th anniversary of their Intermediate Championship success and the club will be making a special presentation to that famous group of players. Tickets will soon be on sale, and any Under 18 members who wish to attend must have parental supervision. Ladies Notes Senior Fixture Moy's final Division One senior league fixture will be away to Glenelly this Sunday (4th November). The throw-in time will be 2.00pm, although this has still to be confirmed. It is an important game for the Tir na nÓg cailini who must win to stand any chance of avoiding the drop back down to Intermediate football next season. Good luck to all the players. Minor Challenge Match Moy minor girls enjoyed playing in an end-of-season friendly game away to local Armagh club side Clonmore, on Thursday night past. It turned out to be an exellent match, played under lights, and proved a very useful exercise as both teams look ahead to an exciting year at minor level in their respective counties in 2008. The Moy squad consisted of many U-16 and U-14 players who were keen to impress on the night and stake a claim for a place in next season's Under 18 squad. Along with the more established minor players on the Moy team, the newcomers certainly made a wonderful impact. Although it had been quite a while since their last competitive fixture, everyone played their part in what was a terrific team performance. Clonmore have a fine young side and they provided the Moy girls with some stiff opposition. However, in a game which was played at a high pace and produced a number of great scores, it was the team on the Tyrone side of the border who came out on top on a scoreline of 4-10 to 4-4. Well done to both sets of players for serving up such an entertaining contest. Ladies football in Moy and Clonmore would appear to have a very bright future! Team: Catherine Duffy; Bronagh McConville, Leanne Daly, Laura Kelly, Roisin Hamill, Joanne Daly, Eimear Swail; Michelle Clancy and Alice Murphy; Ciarrai Cunniffe, Kerry Conroy, Catherine Daly, Aine Swail, Sinead Conroy, Grace McCormack. Subs (all used): Michelle Hagan, Catherine Hughes, Sophie Lavery and Caoimhe Lynch. ********* Colin Mackle (P.R.O.) Cookstown Fr Rock's An experimental Fr Rocks side travelled to Ardboe on Sunday in the penultimate game of the season. Featuring a number of under 21 players the young Rocks faced a difficult challenge against their more experienced counterparts. A below par performance in the first half was followed by a much more improved second half display. A goal from Brian Mulligan and points from Donal Casey, Raymond Mulgrew and Jason Quinn ensured that Cookstown put up a spirited display. The senior season is now drawing to an end and only the under 21 championship remains to be contested. Training for the under 21 squad continues and the championship begins within the next few weeks. Underage training Training for Under 8s and Under 10s continues at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena on Friday evenings 6:30pm - 8.00pm. The cost involved is £1.50 per night to cover the costs of hiring the synthetic pitch and floodlights. With the colder weather now upon us, players should be kitted out appropriately with jackets, trousers, hats and gloves etc. Any new players aged 6 years and over are welcome to enrol on training nights. Multicultural Fr Rocks Fr Rocks currently have a number of players who represent the club at youth level from a wide range of different cultural backgrounds. The club would like to open the gates to all international children, who are part of the influx of new immigrants in Cookstown . If you are new to the area why not send your children along to Fr Rocks underage training. It is a great way to meet new friends, and learn the universal language of Gaelic Games. Minor Trials The following players have been selected to attend Tyrone minor trials. All players should be at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena on Sunday 4th October at 9:15am; Ryan Pickering, Conan Quinn, Brian Kelly, Robert Dobson, Stephen Gribben, Mark Carron and Niall Casey. Club Mass A mass for all deceased members will take place on 8th November at 7:30pm at Loran's Church all club members are asked to attend. Lotto/ Website/Scor/ Club Shop This week's lotto numbers were 4-7-13-14. There were seven match three winners each receiving £15. There was no jackpot winner leaving next week's prize at £2600. A range of Fr Rocks merchandise is now available to buy from Intersport Cookstown. There is a wide range of hoodies, tracktops and jerseys available. Anyone interested in selling Fr Rocks lotto should contact any member of the committee. The Tyrone Scór will take place this Friday evening in the parochial centre at 7:30pm. The next committee meeting will take place on Tuesday 14th November. Visit the club website for all news from within the club and match reports cookstown.tyrone.gaa.ie/ .
