Quinn, Mark

July 29, 2005
The Late Mark Quinn Eoghan Ruadh was saddened to learn of the untimely death of former player Mark Quinn, Moortown. Mark played for the club in the 80s but it seems like only yesterday. He was a player of exceptional skill, speed of thought and fortitude on and off the field. Many comment on the fitness levels of today's players. Mark Quinn would have been at home in today's game. He never stopped and for one so slight of build, he was a hard lad to put down. In 1986 he was named Democrat Youth Hurler of the Year in Tyrone, the foremost awards scheme of its time. Indeed many within hurling felt Mark could justifiably have been awarded the senior accolade as well. Sadly a mystery viral illness was to rob him of his health and his appearances on the hurling field became fewer and fewer. Huge crowds at his funeral were testament to his standing in the community. To his wife Ann, children Hannah and Katie, father Patsy, mother Philomena, brother Patrick and sisters Sarah and Marie and family circle we extend our deepest sympathy.
