Duffin, Gary

April 08, 2005
The Late Gary Duffin The Tyrone community has been left shocked at the news that Coalisland hurler Gary Duffin died suddenly Wednesday (March 30). The 26 year old played with the Naomh Colmcille Club in Coalisland for many years, and his passing has caused great sadness amongst his teammates. Gary had been set to get married this summer to his fiancee Suzanne Marlow, and the couple had just built a new home at Donaghmore, outside Dungannon. Gary is the much-loved son of Liam and Maura Duffin, Lower Annagher, and he is also survived by his brothers Paul and Dominic, and sisters Sharon and Michelle. He attended Primate Dixon PS and St Joseph's High School, Coalisland, and from here he went on to train as a joiner. He was employed by Coalisland construction firm McAvoys Construction for the past five years, and was liked and respected by his colleagues here. Described as a friendly and outgoing young man, Gary was like most people his age, and loved to spend time socialising, and with family, friends and his fiancee. His sporting hero was Roy Keane, and he was an avid football supporter. Gary's funeral took place Saturday morning from his late residence to the Church of the Holy Family, Coalisland for 10am Requiem Mass. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his parents, fiancee, brothers, sisters, grandmother Molly Duffin, brother-in-law Patrick, sister-in-law Angela, nephews Conor, Kevin, Damien, Reece and Darragh, niece Fiona, aunts, uncles, cousins and wide circle of family and friends.
