The Late Conor Coyle "Conor a lad to be proud of' - Fr Faul MONSIGNOR Denis Faul paid a very fitting tribute to the young Carrickmore man killed in a four car collision. Conor Coyle's funeral took place in St. Colmcille's church where he attended Mass the previous Sunday. The accident happened on the Sixmilecross/Carrickmore Road. Conor was a back seat passenger in one of the vehicles. Fr Faul described Conor (18) as a very popular and jolly young man. He said so many young people turned up at his wake and funeral to pay their last respects. "Everybody is in deep shock and find it very hard to take in that this young life has ended this way. What I will say is this young man was ready for death. He said he gave primacy to the important aspects of life for an Irish Catholic. Last Sunday he attended 11.30 am Mass where he received the Holy Eucharist. This was customary for Conor. MEDAL "At the morgue his aunt Annie loosened the neck of his shirt and showed me the Miraculous Medal which he wore around his neck at all times. This boy was ready for death. His mission in life was to give an example to all other young people regarding his devotion to Mary the Mother of God. He put first things first. "He was a very jolly young man. Last weekend he was dancing on the streets celebrating minor and senior success. He was also dancing recently at St Ciaran's High School formal. "One year from now he would have been a qualified Joiner. He suffered all of the enjoyments of teenagers and he was a very young looking person even though he was 18-years old. "Everyone is very upset. His mum Briege is heartbroken as is his aunt Annie who lived with him. His sister Clare had to come home from Philadelphia which would have been a very traumatic journey for her and his other sister Christine was also there. "There was such a large number of people at Conor's wake and funeral. It really was very upsetting. A sad occasion. "However, Conor is a lad his family can be very proud of. He was a devout Catholic by wearing his Miraculous Medal. This is a young man who put Jesus and Mary first." said Fr. Faul. Conor was the beloved son of Briege and dear brother of Christine and Clare, nephew of Michael, Brian, Peter, Mary (Fox), Annie, Eilish (Donnelly) and Kathleen (Armstrong). His remains left his home in Mullanmore on for Requiem Mass in St. Colmcille's Church. Burial took place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Courtesy of the Tyrone Times, October, 2004.
