Devlin: league run good for Tyrone

Selector Gavin Devlin hopes Tyrone's positive league campaign gives them the edge over Donegal.

While the Ulster and All-Ireland champions floundered in the league, the O'Neill County signalled their return to the top flight by powering through to the final at Croke Park. Devlin hopes this extra endeavour will prove decisive in the Ulster SFC quarter-final at Ballybofey on May 26th:

"We'll use it as a positive. It's gone now. It was a great journey but it's over now and we've got to concentrate on Donegal," he says in today's Irish News.

"It couldn't have gone much better. We got a kick up the backsides against Cork and Kerry but bit by bit we went through the gears.

"We had plans and patterns of play and over the course of the league it was very positive.

"It has been a positive league campaign but it's only positive if we beat Donegal. There's nothing positive if we don't beat Donegal.

"If we don't get over the Donegal game, all the myths about there about this extra game being a negative will be true."
