Red Hand Rocks 2012 - back to Tyrone and supporting The Cormac Trust
May 22, 2012

The Red Hand Rocks music festival is supporting The Cormac Trust on the 23rd of June
The Red Hand Rocks Music Festival returns this year on Saturday June 23rd and what a line-up is in store. Celebrating their 20th anniversary legendary Trad Rock group More Power To Your Elbow have been confirmed to play along with Castledery based "The Logues" and veteran Red Hand Rockers "Chasin Hooley"!
Bringing an extra special dimension to this year s festival will be the inclusion of Live Broadcasting of the event online so Ex-pats all over the world can join in on the Red Hand Rocks 2012!
Like the rest of Ireland, County Tyrone has been greatly affected by the economic recession and hundreds of young people have had to emigrate out of the County to other parts of the globe to seek employment. Many others have temporarily left to travel and see the world, but like anyone away for long there are times when you want to be back on home soil. So for one night only three of the biggest and best Co Tyrone bands will play live in Carrickmore while simultaneously broadcasting to ex-patriots all across the world, bringing everyone Back To Tyrone in this truly global event for the County.
From Krakow to Killeshil, New York to Newtonstewart, Sydney to Strabane, Dubai to Donaghmore, Toronto to Trillick, Adelaide to Ardboe, Chicago to Castlederg, Perth to Pomeroy, Darwin to Dromore, Boston to Ballygawley, Glasgow to Greencastle and Melbourne to The Moy, everyone can enjoy a night at home wherever in the world they are.
Favourite novelties at this years festival include the ever popular barbeque, beach bar, special guests, party promotions and prize giveaway. Co Tyrone s favourite DJ Stevie King will be MC and will be chatting and having the craic with some of the special guests in attendance on the night and giving away some freebies!
As always the main aim of The Red Hand Rocks is to raise money for a charity based or linked to Co Tyrone and 2012 is no different. This year the festival is honoured to support and be involved with "The Cormac Trust" which works to raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac arrest.
The charity was set up after the sudden death of Cormac McAnallen in the morning of 2nd March 2004. Cormac s death came as a shock to people not only in his local area, but also to people all over Ulster and Ireland and among the Irish dispora throughout the world, as he was a well-known sportsman of exceptional fitness and of ostensibly perfect health. It was largely due to the death of Cormac and other subsequent cases that the Irish public became aware of the issue of sudden cardiac death among young people. From the time of Cormac s death the McAnallen family was keen to direct public attention to these cardiac conditions that cause such sudden deaths. So the family, with the assistance of the Tyrone County Board of the GAA, set up the Cormac Trust. Recent local cases of Sudden Cardiac Death highlight the fact that young people are still affected by this condition and so the very important work of The Cormac Trust continues.
Our main sponsor for this year is Rocwell Water who will be providing some much needed post-performance refreshment on the night!
In what promises to be the biggest local music event of recent times combining all that is good about our County and in the 50th Anniversary year of The Patrician Hall, everyone can go Back To Tyrone or Ar Ais go Tir Eoghan .
