Dromid seeking legal advice

February 02, 2012
Dromid Pearses are to seek legal advice in the wake of the heavy punishments handed down to both them and Derrytresk arising from last Sunday week's controversial AIB All-Ireland club JFC semi-final.

Eleven players, including three from the South Kerry club, received bans from the CCCC last night, while fines totalling €7,000 were handed down - €5,000 to Derrytresk and €2,000 to Dromid. Officials from both clubs met with members of the CCCC on Monday night and both held emergency last night to inform the players involved of the suspensions.

The bans will come as a massive blow to Derrytresk who are now facing the prospect of being severely depleted for the All-Ireland final against Galway side Clonbur on Saturday week in Croke Park.

Both clubs are expected to appeal the sanctions to the Central Hearings Committee, but in the meantime, Pearses will be seeking legal advice on the matter.

A Dromid spokesperson told the Irish Examiner: "We have received correspondence from Croke Park and we will now be seeking legal advice from Pádraig O'Connell in Killarney. We cannot comment any further at this stage."
