The Seniors returned to league action last Sunday when Rock were the visitors to Killeeshil. Playing with the aid of a stiff breeze the home team started well and raced into a 6-1 lead tagging on some nice scores from play. However, a series of very strange decisions from the referee enabled the away side to get back into the game before half-time, the Hoops going in ahead at 7-4. An indifferent display from the refereee continued in the second period, most calls bewildering both camps. Rock, now playing with wind advantage, managed to take a grip of proceedings and pulled clear with 10 minutes remaining. The final whistle signalled another disappointing result for Killeeshil and with two games left to play they face tough task to stay in Intermediate football.
The Reserves also suffered defeat, playing against the elements in the first half they fell well behind and left themselves too much to do after the break. Rock running out convincing winners in the end.
Next scheduled Senior and Reserve fixtures have been pencilled in for Sunday 26th September, with home games v Aghaloo. Times TBC.
The U-16 Boys travelled to Castlederg last Saturday 4th September to take on the St.Eugenes in the Championship. The lads performed well on the evening, moving ahead early on and eventually held out for a great win. They now face Drumquin in the quarter-finals this Saturday 11th September. The game takes place in Drumquin and has a 5.30pm throw-in time. Transport details will be announced at training. Good luck to all involved. The league quarter-final against Clann na Gael has been fixed for Saturday 18th September at home, again with a 5.30pm start.
The U-13 team played their first game recently against Moy. Unfortunately the boys came out on the wrong side of a high scoring encounter. The team meet Trillick on Friday 10th September at 6.45pm in their second outing.
The U-16 Girls made the journey to the Loughshore on Tuesday evening to take on Ardboe in their second to last league game. In slippy conditions the girls battled hard against the wind in the opening period, putting in a solid defensive display. This built the platform for successs and with the wind at their backs in the second half the team played some great attacking football to claim the 2 points. Next fixture for the girls takes place on Monday 13th September when they meet Dungannon in the semi-final of the Championship. Time and venue yet to be confirmed. Best of luck to the girls.
Training for all U-8, U-10 and U-12 girls continues on Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm. All help is greatly appreciated.
Killeeshil will host an U-12 Girls Blitz on Saturday 18th September at 11.00am.
Best of luck to Tyrone Senior Ladies, and especially club players Claire Scullion and Catriona McGahan, this Saturday as they prepare to take on Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final replay. Hopefully the team can go one better than last week and take their place in the All-Ireland final. Good luck girls.
The club would like to express its sympathy to the Hetherington family (Donaghmore) and Kavanagh family (Ballygawley) families on their recent bereavements. May their loved ones Rest In Peace.
Anyone who has any information they would like to have considered for the club notes, please forward it to

Piarsaigh An Ghallbhaile
MENS FOOTBALL
The Seniors suffered a huge blow at the weekend losing out to Greencastle on a score line of 1-13 to 1-7. Galbally opened the scoring with a Paul Rafferty free but the visitors were soon level. The Pearses then hit two points in as many minutes from James Lennon and Blaine Nugent but Greencastle soon replied scoring an unanswered 2-3. The Pearses responded well to grab a goal at the other end with Ryan McGurk getting his toe to the loose ball after initial good work by Kieran McCrory in midfield. This was followed by a well taken Rafferty point to leave only a goal separating the sides going in at the break. Half-Time 2-5 to 1-5. The visitors hit three points in the opening minutes of the second half before Galbally responded with Rafferty's converted free. Greencastle continued to get vital points but the game looked set to go the wire when Michael Murphy rattled the net to leave four points between the teams. However, Greencastle added a further three points to their tally and Galbally's ultimate effort in search of goals in the dying minutes of the game were in vain.
The Reserves earned a hard fought 'victory' in the opening game of the day winning by the narrowest of margins. It was an encouraging display by the Pearses in particular young Sean Carberry in goals who made some vital saves in the opening half to keep Galbally in the game. Final Score 1-12 to 1-11.

Minors reach County Final
Fr Rocks minors made it through to the county final on Wednesday evening following a thrilling victory over Errigal Ciaran at Killeeshil. The Rocks got off to a dream start, when Barry Potter fired to the back of the net with just twenty seconds on the clock. Errigal could only look on as the Rocks were rampant in the early stages, with Ryan O' Neill splitting the posts and Owen Coyle cracking in another goal to open a six point lead after seven minutes. Errigal did begin to claw their way back into the contest and kicked three scores in a row to reduce the deficit. A superb sideline from Danny McElhatten was followed by two excellent Barry Potter points from play. Errigal again responded and a well worked goal in the twenty fifth minute left just a goal between the teams. In the closing stages of the half Danny McElhatten crucially kept the Rocks ahead with two brilliant frees from the ground, something which became a feature of the game. Cookstown led at half time on a scoreline of 2-7 to 1-7. In the second half Fr Rocks displayed great courage to withstand the Errigal onslaught and once again it was Danny McElhatten who kept them ahead with three brilliant freekicks in the sixth, ninth and twelfth minutes. There was some great defending from Ciaran Blake and Mattie Hughes in defence and a brilliant save from Owen Devlin kept the hopes of a final appearance alive. Errigal rattled the crossbar twice in the last few minutes, but Cookstown were not to be outdone and Barry Potter showed great composure to kick a free from forty five meters to seal a memorable victory for the young Rocks, on a final scoreline of 2-11 to 1-13. This was an excellent all round team performance, outstanding for Cookstown were Mattie Hughes, Barry Potter and Danny McElhatten. The Fr Rocks team lined out as follows; O Devlin, R Mullan, J McGarrity, C Blake, M Hughes, S McGarrity, N Doyle, M Carberry, C Owens, B Potter (1-3), R O'Neill (0-2), D Maguire, L McCrackin, D McElhatten (0-6, 6 frees), O Coyle (1-0); subs Andre Texeria.

An Mhaigh Tír na nÓg
Duckfast Derby
All eyes were on the river Blackwater in Moy last Sunday as the long awaited Duckfast Derby took place before a large attendance. Approximately 2000 blue ducks were entered in the race and, to mark the occasion, a fun day and BBQ was also held at An Mhaigh G.A.A. grounds.
Proceedings got underway shortly after 12.00pm with a variety of fun activities at Páirc Thír na nÓg. These included Races, It's a Knockout, Poc Fada, Horse Riding, Face Painting and more. Meanwhile, the smell of freshly cooked burgers, sausages and chicken permeated around the ground as those present were treated to a tasty bbq.
The main event of the day was of course the duck race which took place on the stretch of the river next to the Moy football field. The race attracted huge interest at home and abroad with large numbers of ducks having been sponsored in places like America, where a group known as 'Ryan's Angels' were among those who enthusiastically supported the event.
At the end of a colourful race, it was revealed that the lucky prize-winners were as follows: 1st - John Boden, Clonduff, Co. Down (£1000); 2nd - Mary Ann Patterson, Moy (£500); 3rd - Andrew Devlin, Moy (£250).
£50 winners were: Tina Gray, Ardeen Manor; David Magee; Eugene Jordan, Sessiagh, Benburb; Dawson Wan, Moy; Conal Hamill, Moy; Katie Murren, Moy; Malachy O'Neill, Moy; Maria Hagan, Moy; Benny McGurgan, Benburb; and Roisin Haughey, Armagh.
£10 winners were: Francis McKeown, Moy; Diane Harrington, USA; Mark Currie, Moy; Kevin O'Loan, Moy; Martin Barr; Ryan's Angels, USA; Annette Lavery, Redford Park, Moy; Ryan's Angels, USA; Conor Carlisle, Tullysaran; and Ryan's Angels, USA.
Congratulations to all of the winners in the race and a big thank you to the many people who sponsored a duck. Proceeds from the race will go towards An Mhaigh Tír na nÓg club development. A donation will also be made to Marie Curie Cancer Care NI.
Finally, well done to everyone who sold tickets, helped out on the day, and played their part in any small way to help make this fundraising event for the club such a resounding success. Maith thú.

Annual Under 10 Tournament
Our club will host the second of its major underage football tournaments this Saturday (11th September). A total of sixteen Under 10 teams from all over Ulster will be welcomed to Páirc Thir na nÓg for what should be another great day of sporting entertainment.
The action will commence on Saturday morning at 10.00am, with the finals scheduled for 3.00pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and show their support for these talented youngsters. Meanwhile, anyone who can help out on the day should forward his/her name to An Mhaigh G.A.C. Youth Officer Martin Conroy.
Come on Tyrone!
Good luck again to Patricia Conroy, Nina Murphy and the entire Tyrone ladies senior football squad and management for the forthcoming All-Ireland Semi-Final replay against Kerry. We wish the Red Hand girls well in their quest to reach this year's national decider at Croke Park against Dublin.
Men's Senior Team
An Mhaigh senior footballers played host to Omagh St Enda's in Division One of the All-County League last Sunday. Played in damp and dreary conditions, this was a game in which the Moy men started well and were always in contention. However, a strong second half showing from the visitors saw them emerge victorious by four points.
The Sky Blues gave the home support plenty to shout about in the early stages when points from the Cavanagh brothers and an opportunist goal by Tommy Conlon put An Mhaigh 1-3 to 0-2 ahead after only eight minutes. Omagh came back well, though, and converted a number of free-kicks to take the lead.
An Mhaigh rallied again towards the end of the half and, thanks to scores from Conall Duffy and Tommy Conlon, went in at the break on level terms (1-5 to 0-8). Despite a great point by Philly Jordan soon after the restart, the Tír na nÓgs played second fiddle to Omagh for most of the second half.
Only some wayward shooting from the St Enda's kept An Mhaigh in contention right up until the closing stages. The homesters defended well at times but scored only once more in this half as an understrength Omagh side claimed both league points on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-7.
Team & Scorers: Barry Gribbin; Brendan Kelly, Francie McQuade, Adam Currie; Niall Conlon (capt), Tomás McNicholl, Mark Jordan; Colm Jordan and James Devlin; Conall Duffy (0-1), Colm Cavanagh (0-3, 2 fk), Philip Jordan (0-1); Kris Kavanagh, Sean Cavanagh (0-1), Tommy Conlon (1-1). Subs used: Cormac O'Neill (37 mins), Hugo Mackle (41 mins) and Emmett Rafferty (52 mins).
League Position: Played 13, Won 6, Drawn 0, Lost 7, Points 12. Remaining ACL Fixtures: v Cookstown (away); v Coalisland (home).
Boys Under 18 Team
An Mhaigh Under 18 lads had their championship hopes dashed on Wednesday 1st September when they lost to Owen Roe O'Neills by three points in a closely contested semi-final clash at Beragh.
After trailing 1-3 to 2-5 at half-time, the Moy players staged a great comeback after the break. The Sky Blues limited Owen Roes to just four points in the second half and kept chipping away at the opposition's lead. However, luck was not on the side of this gallant Moy team who struck the crossbar and post several times.
An Mhaigh had the Owen Roe O'Neills defence under severe pressure for the final fifteen minutes but the woodwork denied the Tír na nÓgs match-winning scores. Credit, though, must also go to the winners who defended well against the Moy onslaught. Final Score: Owen Roe O'Neills 2-9 An Mhaigh 1-9.
Team & Scorers: Nathan Brady; Odhrán Burke, Eoghan O'Neill, Jack Donaghy, Jack Kelly, Mark Gribbin, Daniel Beaddie, Eunan Deeney (capt, 0-5), Cormac O'Neill (0-1), Patrick Fox, Mark McConville (1-1), Harry Loughran, Matthew Dynes. Subs used: Liam Kelly (0-1) and Niall McConville (0-1). Other subs: Daryl Mills and James Cavanagh.
This was a disappointing result for our minor lads but they will have an opportunity to get their season back on track when they play Brockagh Emmetts in the league semi-finals at Dungannon on Saturday 25th September. Throw-in time to be confirmed.
For more information on training and fixtures, contact team mentors Martin Deeney, Paud Loughran or Paul Dynes.
Girls Under 16 Team
An Mhaigh Under 16 girls were involved in a thrilling championship quarter-final clash away to Fintona on Wednesday 1st September. Unfortunately, at the end of a hugely exciting and high-scoring affair, it was the home side which booked their place in the next round on a scoreline of 7-10 to 6-10.
An Mhaigh's next outing will be a league fixture away to Urney on Tuesday 7th September at 7.00pm. League Position: Played 4, Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 1, Points 7.
