MENS FOOTBALL
The Reserves were narrowly beaten at the weekend by Omagh in what was a highly contested game.  The visitors had gained a substantial lead by the break however the Pearses produced a spirited second half performance lead by Peter Murphy and Aidan O'Hagan and were very unlucky not to win the match.  Final Score 2-11 1-11.
The Seniors were defeated on a score line of 3-12 to 1-9 with Omagh hitting two goals within minutes of the ball being thrown in.  Points from Paul Rafferty, Eamon McElroy and Michael Murphy kept the Pearses in the game with John Moylan getting on the score sheet before the half time whistle.  Half-Time 2-8 0-7.  Omagh opened the scoring with the resumption of play but the Pearses responded with a well taken goal by Murphy.  The visitors soon found the net again and added another four points, to Galbally's two, before the end to win the game comfortably.
The Championship Quarter Final game against Kildress will be played on Friday evening in Loughmacrory.  Throw-in 7:15 pm.  All support is welcome.

U-16 girls maintained their unbeaten run in the league with a great win over Errigal Ciaran in Dunmoyle on Saturday morning.  The girls had a fantastic first half performance but in the second half allowed Errigal to creep back into it.  A goal with five minutes to go kept the girls out of touch though and they ran out winners on a score line of 4-12 to 5-3.  Training continues Saturday at 1:00 pm with the next match on Monday 23rd August away to Carrickmore.

The Seniors hosted Augher on Saturday 14th August in what was a must win game for the home side. The team started brightly and with purpose, working hard all over the field. With Aoran McKenna and Gary Reilly getting a firm grip of the mid-field battle Killeeshil enjoyed the greater share of possession in the first period but failed to make thier dominance count on the score-board. A few good point-scoring opportunities were not converted and things could have been so much different had Anton McGonnells long-range thunder-bolt of an effort for goal not crashed of the post minutes before the break. As it was, the hoops still held a slender one point lead at the interval 6-5. The nip and tuck nature of the game continued throughout the second half with scores at a premium. Killeeshil were defending well though and looked the more likely to claim victory, and so it was left to Reilly to convert a wonderfull attempt from 50 yards to seal the points, a score worthy of winning any match. Final score 0-10 0-9. Hopefully this win will give the team the boost they need as they fight to avoid relegation and prepare for the upcoming championship quarter-final.
The Reserves took on Urney in their championship quarter-final when the sides met in Killeeshil on Friday 13th August. In low scoring game the home side fell to a 0-7 to 0-5 defeat and they will point to a catalogue of missed chances as their major downfall. The lads could not be faulted for effort but it just wasnt to be their night.
Both Senior and Reserve teams are back in action this weekend as they make the long journey to Urney on Saturday 21st August, Reserve 3.00 & Senior 4.30. All support for the teams welcome.

The U-16 Boys were due to travel to Eskra on Wednesday 18th August to fulfill a league fixture.
The U-12 Boys travelled to Galbally on Monday 16th August for two games against our near neighbours. In what was their final outing of the year the boys won one game and lost one. Well done to all players and management for all their hard work all year.

An Mhaigh Tír na nÓg G.A.C.
Ladies Senior Team
An Mhaigh ladies senior footballers pulled out all the stops last Saturday night (14th August) in their bid to stay in Division Two of the league and maintain their Intermediate status for next season.  Despite travelling to Loughmacrory with an understrength side, and fielding no fewer than five minor players, the Tír na nÓg cailíní produced a magnificent display of heart and skill to win by two points.
With both sides struggling at the wrong end of the table and in serious relegation danger, it was no surprise that this turned out to be a tense and very competitive encounter.  However, after so many narrow defeats, this group of Moy players was finally rewarded for their great fighting spirit when they came good in the closing stages to register their first win of the year.
An Mhaigh started slowly, conceding a goal and a point in the opening five minutes and then missing a penalty soon after.  The visitors recovered well though to overturn Loughmacrory's lead and could have pulled further away had it not been for the brilliance of the home team's goalkeeper who made two point-blank saves.  A Kelley Fay goal in the 26th minute did put Moy three up but Loughmacrory fought back with another goal of their own to level matters (2-4 to 1-7) at the break.
There was little to separate these finely matched teams in the second half, with Moy edging in front during a low-scoring third quarter.  Loughmacrory enjoyed a period of dominance midway through this half, but an Eimear McKearney penalty save inspired her team to a rousing finish.  The sides were deadlocked entering the final few minutes but two injury-time points from Kelley Fay and Sarah Rafferty earned An Mhaigh a vital 1-12 to 2-7 victory.
Team & Scorers: Eimear McKearney; Rachel Coyne, Colleen McCance, Ellen Donohue; Grace McCormack, Ashlene McCann, Eimear Swail; Sarah Rafferty (0-1) and Patricia Conroy (0-1); Sophie Lavery (0-1), Nina Murphy (0-4), Niamh Kelly; Sinéad McNicholl (0-2, 1 fk), Kelley Fay (1-3), Caoimhe Lynch.  Blood Sub: Leona Gallagher for E. Swail.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Moy player Grace McCormack who sustained a nasty wrist injury in this match and could be out of action for several weeks.
An Mhaigh's final league game will be at home to Galbally on a date to be confirmed.  The Moy girls must also win this game to avoid the prospect of relegation.

Men's Senior Team
An Mhaigh senior men's footballers missed an opportunity to challenge for a top four position in Division One of the All-County League, last Sunday afternoon, when losing by the narrowest of margins away to a highly-charged Greencastle side.
A combination of basic errors from the Moy players and Greencastle's greater desire saw the home side lead 0-4 to 0-1 at the end of a low-scoring first half.  In what was an opening thirty minutes to forget for the Tír na nÓgs, the team was reduced to fourteen players when Tomás McNicholl was dismissed for a second yellow card offence just before the break.
An Mhaigh matched Greencastle's intensity after the restart but, in hot conditions and with a man less, found it difficult at times to break down the opposition's defence.  Scores from our four county men kept Moy within touching distance and, for most of this half, only one point separated the sides.  The visitors could have snatched a draw from a free-kick in the dying seconds, but the chance was missed and it was Greencastle who held out for a vital 0-8 to 0-7 win in their quest to avoid relegation.
Team & Scorers: Barry Gribbin; Brendan Kelly, Niall Conlon, Adam Currie; Matt Murren, Philip Jordan (0-1), Padraig Laverty; Sean Cavanagh (0-3, 2 fk) and Colm Jordan; Peter Mallon, Ryan Mellon (capt, 0-1), Tomás McNicholl; Tommy Conlon, Kris Kavanagh, Colm Cavanagh (0-2, 1 fk).  Subs used: Mark Jordan (h-t) and Martin Kernan (44 mins).
League Position: Played 11, Won 6, Drawn 0, Lost 5, Points 12.  Remaining Fixtures: v Errigal Ciaran (away) on Saturday 21st August at 4.30pm; v Omagh (home) on Sunday 5th September; v Cookstown (away) on Sunday 12th September; v Coalisland (home) on Saturday 18th September.
Men's Reserve Team
An Mhaigh reserve footballers produced a much improved performance in the first of the A.C.L. Division One games at Greencastle last Sunday.  The Sky Blue seconds played some really good football at times and were a tad unfortunate to lose by four points in what turned out to be very entertaining contest.
An opportunist goal from Conall Laverty after only three minutes gave his side an early boost and, playing with great confidence, An Mhaigh went on to lead 1-3 to 0-1 at the end of the first quarter.  Greencastle finished the half strongly, kicking five scores without reply, but it was all to play for as both teams went in level at the interval.
Not even the brilliance of Conall Duffy in attack and an excellent penalty save by Nathan Brady early in the second half could prevent An Mhaigh falling behind for the first time in the match.  Two Greencastle goals helped them open up a seven point lead entering the final ten minutes but, despite having lost both Conall Laverty and Gary Jordan through injury, the Moy men showed great heart in the closing stages to cut the deficit to just a single point.
A Ryan Mallon penalty goal started Moy's late comeback but, just as the visitors were pressing for an equalising score, Greencastle broke down the field and sealed their win with a third goal in what was the final piece of action.  Final Score: Greencastle 3-10 An Mhaigh 2-9.  Marty Conroy, Eoghan O'Neill, Cormac O'Neill and Conall Duffy were among those who shone for the Tír na nÓgs on the day.
An Mhaigh's next reserve league game is away to Errigal Ciaran this Saturday (21st August) at 3.00pm.  For more information on reserve team matters, contact managers Sean Mallon or Brendy Farmer.
Boys Under 16 Team
An Mhaigh Under 16 lads recorded an emphatic victory away to Aghaloo on Thursday 12th August to increase their chances of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the league.  This result, which comes on the back of a great win at home to Augher, moves the ever improving Sky Blues up to third place in the table.
League Position: Played 7, Won 4, Drawn 0, Lost 3, Points 8.  Remaining Fixtures: v Derrylaughan (home) on Wednesday 18th August at 7.15pm; v Brackaville (away) on Saturday 21st August at 5.00pm; v Brockagh (home) on Wednesday 25th August at 7.15pm.
For more information on training and fixtures, contact team mentors Sean Cartmill, Raymond Kelly or Gerry McCourt.
Girls Under 16 Team
An Mhaigh Under 16 girls got their league title hopes back on track again thanks to a facile win at home to Stewartstown on Tuesday 10th August.  The Tír na nÓg cailíní turned in a great display to dominate the game from start to finish and succeeded in a clocking up a very impressive scoreline.
League Position: Played 3, Won 2, Drawn 0, Lost 1, Points 6.  For more information on training and fixtures, contact team mentors Aiden McCormack, Eimear McKearney, Jenna Hagan or Aiveen McCormack.
Boys Under 10 Team
An Mhaigh Under 10 players and management were up bright and early last Saturday morning to take part in the Truagh Tournament in county Monaghan.  There were five groups of four teams.  The top two teams from each group qualified for the Cup competition, the next two placed teams played for the Shield, with the bottom team in the group going home early.
An Mhaigh team mentor Adrian Jordan reports: "Pearse Og (Armagh) withdrew late from our group, so our first game was against host club Truagh which we won well.  In our second game, we came up against a Magheracloone team managed by Monaghan county star Damien Freeman.  We scraped through that one by a single point to qualify for the last eight of the Cup competition.
"Galbally were our opponents in the quarter-finals.  In a game which one of our players came in for some special attention, we came from behind to win by three points.  Next up in the semi-final was a game against another Tyrone side, Errigal Ciaran.  Although defeated by six points, our lads put in a great effort and did their club proud throughout this tournament."
An Mhaigh Squad: James Birt, Jamie Coleman, Michael Conroy, Adam Donaghy, Scott Donaghy, Steve Donaghy, Ciaran Foster, Patrick Harvey, Matthew Johnston, Michael Jordan, Jack Laverty, Micheal Mackle, Niall McCormack, Shane O'Hagan, Padraig Watters and Shane Mackle.

Sigersons
The seniors secured a home draw v Aghaloo last Sunday in a game played in glorious sunshine. First half goals via Martin McNulty and Anthony McMenamin sent Strabane in three points up at the break, however it took a late Martin McNulty point from a free kick to gain Strabane a share of the spoils and keep their aspirations of remaining in Division 2 firmly intact. Defeat to Coalisland
Fr Rocks seniors were defeated by Coalisland on Sunday past on a scoreline of 1-18 to 0-10. The Rocks began the game at blistering pace and were a point ahead after just twenty seconds when Owen Mulligan split the posts from thirty yards. Indeed Fr Rocks were the better team for the opening twenty minutes and the sides were level following scores from Brian Mulligan, a superb Raymond Mulgrew effort and a fisted point from the impressive Niall Glackin. Cookstown had created a number of good chances and should have been ahead in the game. Coalisland however began to turn the screw and nine unanswered scores either side of half time were enough to finish the game as a contest. The Rocks did rally and scores from Niall Glackin, Raymond Mulgrew and three Owen Mulligan frees reduced the deficit, however Fianna held on for a deserved victory on the day. The Fr Rocks team lined out as follows; M Rea, C Bell, B Kelly, M O'Connor, J Gilmore, B Hughes, C O'Hare, B O'Neill, R Mulgrew (0-2), R Pickering, Barry Mulligan, Brian Mulligan (0-1), M Hughes, O Mulligan (0-4, 3frees), N Glackin (0-3). Subs; J Quinn, B Sheehy, O McNia..

Under 16s
The Under 16s were back in league action on Thursday night when they faced an away trip to Carrickmore. The boys produced some stunning football at times and finished comfortable winners at the end. Playing into a strong wind in the first half, they produced some excellent football, with Barry Potter finding the net midway through the half to set the boys on the way to victory. There were superb first half scores from Gary McKenna, Owen Coyle, Ryan Owens and Eoghan O'Connor as the Rocks took control of the game. With Ruairi Mullan and Ciaran Blake dominant in defence there was no way back for Carmen in the second half, and two further goals from Barry Potter, were matched by great score from Osin Maguire and Eoghan O'Connor to seal a comprehensive victory. The Fr Rocks scorers on the night were; Barry Potter 3-2, Gary McKenna 0-2, P Murray 0-2, O Coyle 0-2, E O'Connor 0-3, O Maguire 0-2, R Owens 0-1.
