Piarsaigh An Ghallbhaile
MENS FOOTBALL
Both the Seniors and Reserves suffered defeats at the hands of Carrickmore on Monday evening.  In the Senior game Paul Rafferty opened the scoring with a well taken free however Carrickmore soon responded with a hat-trick of scores.  Rafferty executed another free soon after but this was to be the Pearses last score of the half with Carrickmore hitting a further seven points.  Half-Time 0-10 to 0-2.  The home side dominated the opening stages of the second half scoring an unanswered 2-5.  James Lennon, who worked tirelessly throughout, converted a free but Carrickmore continued to get the scores.  Michael Murphy, who had moved into full-forward grabbed a point and this was to be the last score.  Full-Time 3-19 to 0-4.
The Reserves were narrowly beaten on Friday evening by Greencastle in the opening round of the Championship. Opening points from Ciaran Hagan & James Lennon and further scores from Denis Donaghy and James Nugent left it all to play for at the break (1-6 to 0-4).  Barry Hurson opened the scoring in the second half and then added a further point thanks to a surging run by Cathal Mullin.  Lennon and Nugent continued to get the scores up front and Shane McGuire saved at point blank range to keep the Pearses in the game.  However Galbally couldn't get the vital score required and lost out by the slimmest of margins.

Men's Reserve Team
An Mhaigh reserve footballers met a very strong Omagh side in the Championship first round at Páirc Thír na nÓg, Moy on Friday 30th July.  The visitors were rampant in the first half, scoring at will to build up an unassailable lead at the break.  The Moy men produced a more spirited display in the second period but it was Omagh who still emerged comfortable winners on a scoreline of 3-15 to 0-7.

Boys Under 16 Team
There were mixed fortunes for An Mhaigh Under 16 lads in the league last week.  On Tuesday 27th July, Brackaville were the visitors to Páirc Thír na nÓg.  A superb performance by all of the Moy players resulted in a comprehensive 8-8 to 2-7 win for the home side.  Mark McConville had an outstanding game, scoring 2-4 and leading his team to victory.
The Sky Blues were back in action again on Thursday 29th July.  However, on this occasion, a tired and lethargic Moy team lost away to Brockagh Emmetts on a scoreline of 5-16 to 4-4.  Moy's next league match will be at home to Augher this Thursday evening (5th August) at 7.30pm.
League Position: Played 5, Won 2, Drawn 0, Lost 3, Points 4.  For more information on training and fixtures, contact team mentors Sean Cartmill or Raymond Kelly.
Boys Under 12 Team
An Mhaigh Under 12 boys took part in the Annual Clonduff Tournament, which was re-scheduled due to Down and Tyrone's involvement in the All-Ireland Football Quarter-Finals at Croke Park last Saturday.  Moy team mentor Gerry Fearon reports:
"We travelled with a strong squad of players and were the only Tyrone team in the competition. The format consisted of three sections of five teams with the winners of each section and the best runner-up overall going through to the finals.  This was an eleven-a-side competition which required a goalkeeper.  As Moy usually play nine-a-side, with only points being scored, our lads had to alter their game plan.
"It all started well for the Moy. We had good victories over Longstone and Burren 'B' before meeting a highly fancied Clonduff team.  Our management had watched how this side had beat all in their path and knew that this was the crunch game. Two players for Clonduff were their main driving force so we devised a game plan and selected two of our own to man-mark these particular players.
"This turned out to one of the best games of the tournament. It was a tightly-contested affair which Moy lost by the narrowest of margins.  Special mention must be given to Diarmuid McKeown who kept Clonduff's star forward scoreless and to Michael Conroy who marked their main play-maker so well that the Clonduff lad was eventually taken off.
"We knew that we needed to win the last game against Kilcoo by a large margin to have any chance of qualifying as the best runner-up. Thankfully, it went to plan as we won that game easily enough.  However, we then realised it was down to point difference between Moy and Burren 'A' for that best runner-up place. After a few tense moments, it was confirmed that we had narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals.
"We would like to thank Clonduff for their invitation and hospitality on the day.  All involved enjoyed the tournament. The management would also like to thank the players for their effort and their good behavior.  They represented the club well both on and off the field of play."
An Mhaigh Players: Shane Barnard, Jack Campbell, Odhran Casey, Matthew Collins, Sean Farmer, Michael Hagan, Darren Heatherington, Ojan Jordan, Francis Kelly, Tom Loughran, Sean Lynch, Cormac Mallon, Ronan Mallon, Ronan McCabe, Diarmuid McKeown, Tony Cavanagh, Andrew Mullen, Mark Reagan, Michael Conroy, Ciaran Foster.
For more information on training and fixtures, contact team mentors Liam Lynch, Brendan Farmer, Kevin Mallon or Gerry Fearon.
Representing the Red Hands
Last Saturday was another proud day for An Mhaigh Gaels as no fewer than six of our playing members represented the O'Neill County at Croke Park during All-Ireland Football Quarter-Final weekend.
It was a day of mixed fortunes for the Tyrone teams in action.  Commiserations to Colm, Philly, Ryan, Sean and the Tyrone seniors who were unlucky to lose to the Dubs in a gripping encounter.  Well done, however, to Eunan and the Tyrone minors who were once again very impressive in defeating Kerry in the curtain-raiser at Croker.
A special mention must also be given to An Mhaigh youth team member, John Millar, who was selected to play for Tyrone Under 14s against Dublin during half-time in the big senior match.  This was a marvellous experience for John who got to display his talents before an attendance of over 60,000 people.
Duckfast Derby
Any club member who can spare a couple of hours this Wednesday night (4th August) to help push sales of tickets for the forthcoming Duckfast Derby is requested to meet up in the Moy GAA Clubrooms at 7.00pm.  Everyone welcome!

The Reserves were in action in the Championship on Friday 30th July with an away tie to Clan na Gael. Despite having played some decent foot-ball from the beginning of the season, a mixture of bad luck and missing personnel meant the reserves were without a win in the league and the fact they had to travel to Aughabrack made this encounter all the more difficult. But the team fielded arguably their strongest starting line-up of the year and travelled with hope they could spring an upset. After a poor start, when they fell 4-1 behind, the lads couldnt have been blamed for thinking it was going to be another one of those days. They refused to throw in the towel though, and battled gamely to get themselves back into contention, a Niall McDonald goal helping them draw level midway through the first half. A superb solo score from captain Anton McGonnell, when he took on the whole Clan na Gael defence to run through and point, helpled Killeeshil move ahead. When the same player done well to create a goal opening for Stephen Small, Small made no mistake with a good finish from close range. The home team responded well and hit 3 points before half-time to leave the scores level at the break, 0-8 to 2-2.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first with not much between the sides, but with John McMullan starting to get a grip of the midfield battle Killeeshil made a push for victory. Connor Small was a rock at the centre of the hoops defence repelling countless Clan na Gael attacks, he was ably assisted by Niall Mcdonald who was using possession wisely around midfield and when Daragh O'Neill scored a third goal victory was almost secured. A injury time penalty conversion from the homesters left Killeeshil nerves a bit frayed in the dying seconds but the away team stood firm to record their first win of the year, 3-5 to 1-10. Well done to all the lads as they take their place in the q-finals of the competition. A special mention to John McMullan who gave a tireless display on his return from injury and also to Connor Small who picked up the man-of-the-match award.
The Senior and Reserves teams are at home to Edendork in the ACL this weekend Sunday 8th August. Reserve 2.15 & Senior 3.45pm. Training continues at the normal times.
The U-16 Boys took on Rock on Tuesday 27th July and were made to fight hard for a 2 point win. The team are progressing nicely in the league and take on Clogher away in their next outing, Wednesday 4th August with a 7.30 throw-in.
The U-16 Girls made it three wins from three starts when they notched up two wins during the course of the last week. On Monday 26th July the team hosted Dromore and proved too strong for the visitors easing to a comfortable victory. In a great team effort the girls were always in control, defended well and hit some fine scores along the way. On Wednesday 28th July the team made the trip to Killyclogher to take on Cappagh and it proved to be a much closer affair than the two previous games. Killeeshil struggled to find their rhythm in the opening half but still managed to lead at the short whistle by 2 points. The girls upped their tempo in the second half and always seemed to be in control and closed out the game on a score-line of 2-9 to 1-9. This was a tough game for the team and should stand them in good stead for the remainder of the season. Next fixture at time of going to press; Clan na Gael away on Monday 9th August.
The U-12 Boys put in a fine performance last week against Donaghmore and came away with a good win. In their next fixture, the young hoops were due travel to face Beragh on Monday 2nd August.
Training for all U-8, U-10 and u-12 girls has resumed on Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm. All help is appreciated.
Killeeshil will host a Fundamentals Course on Saturday 21st August. The course on is very worthwile and should be of particular interest to anyone who would like to get involved in mentoring a team at any age group. To book a space or for more information please contact Nicloa McAnenly.     Commiserations to Kevin Hughes and Tyrone who bowed out of the All-Ireland race on Saturday with defeat to Dublin. On the other hand, congratulations to the Minors who recorded a comprehensive victory over Kerry to march on to the All-Ireland semi-final.
