Liam Cahill hailed Waterford's character after they edged out Galway for their third win in Division 1 of the Allianz Hurling League.

“You have to take the wins when they’re there for the taking,” the Deise boss told the Irish Independent.

“It’s great, but also the manner in which they’re digging out results. That game was tight and we still had that little bit of resilience and resolve to see it out in the end.

“When the Waterford people look out at a hard-working Waterford team, I don’t think they’ll have too many complaints and that’s what they were looking for and they’re enjoying it.

"Please God we’ll continue to do that.”
