In a bid to reduce the fixture congestion, Kilkenny GAA have decided to do away with replays where possible.

A ‘decision on the day’ approach will be taken for games in the senior, intermediate and junior leagues when they reach their concluding stages, while the under-21 and under-19 championships will be run the same.

At the February meeting of the county board, a proposal was put forward to introduce a no replay rule in many of the county’s competitions.

Delegates were told that with the inter-county fixture season becoming so compact, there was no room for replays on the club fixture schedule.

The club championships are set to start three weeks earlier than in previous years and thus Kilkenny need to have their championship completed on time.
