Jackie Tyrrell feels Kilkenny tend to get the better of Tipperary in closely-contested matches.

And, if Sunday’s All-Ireland final is close, the former Cats full back believes Brian Cody’s men might have a psychological edge:

“I would say there’s a slight psychological advantage to Kilkenny in that there were times when Tipperary had a better pool of talent, like in last year’s league final, and Kilkenny turned them over,” the James Stephens legend told The Irish Daily Star.

“Kilkenny, if you look back over the last ten years, I know they are different teams but thy have won an awful lot more than Tipperary have and I do think if things are tight going down the final stretch Kilkenny are probably better at eking out results and getting over the line than this Tipperary team.

“Any time they have beaten us, they have just hit a level that we couldn’t sustain. You think of 2010, you think of 2016. But any times it’s been nip and tuck, Kilkenny just seem to get over the line and I expect a tight game.”
