Longford manager Derek Frehill was delighted with his side’s HL3B victory, but added following a small break, it will be all systems go for the Nicky Rackard Cup.

An extra time win over Sligo saw Longford crowned champions, just a week after the Connacht side had inflicted a heavy defeat on the Midlanders in the last of the group games.

Longford were worthy winners and Frehill told the Longford Leader that they will get a break now before the focus turns to the championship.

“From January, we ramped up training. The lads put in a huge effort and it all led to the league title triumph. They can go out and celebrate. It’s not every day you win a national league medal,” stressed Frehill.

“They are going to get a couple of weeks off now to go back to their clubs and then we will kick on for the Nicky Rackard Cup.”
