Mick Spain from Drumcullen will receive a President’s award at Croke Park on Friday, March 8th for outstanding service to the GAA.
Mick has given a lifetime’s service to Offaly GAA. He won a minor hurling championship with Drumcullen in 1949 and was on the Offaly team that faced Kilkenny in the following year’s Leinster MHC final.
He went on to win five county SHCs with his native club and another with Birr, winning a Leinster junior hurling championship with Offaly in 1953.
Mick served Drumcullen as chairman and development officer and Offaaly as senior selector and County Board hurling officer.
