Goals from Jonathan O’Neill jnr (2), Gavin Weir and Leighton Glynn were key as Glenealy retained the Wicklow SHC title in Aughrim today.
The Gary Laffan coached side enjoyed a 4-10 to 1-12 victory over Carnew Emmetts.
Weir and O’Neill jnr raised green flags in the opening period and they went in for the half-time break with a 2-7 to 0-3 lead.
Carnew improved substantially after the break, however, and produced a spirited comeback which saw them reduce Glenealy’s lead to just two points.
Enda Donohoe hit 1-5 for the challengers during their purple patch but the experienced Glynn made a big impact off the bench when netting his team’s fourth goal.
