Camross retained their Laois SHC title thanks to a hard-earned 2-15 to 0-19 final victory over Rathdowney-Errill in O’Moore Park today.
Goals from Eoin Gaughan and Mark Dowling were instrumental in the club’s 26th county title success while Rathdowney-Errill lost the services of the influential Ross King to a facial injury following a row which broke out in the 25th minute.
Gaughan’s goal was the difference between the teams at the half-time whistle – 1-8 to 0-8.
Dowling’s three pointer arrived in the 39th minute and parachuted the Danny Owens managed side into an eight point lead.
Rathdowney-Errill mounted a late comeback but they had left themselves too much to do and Camross held on for a two-point win.
