Kenny and Cunningham early frontrunners to replace Gilroy

September 17, 2018

Mattie Kenny and Anthony Cunningham.

Two Galway men are in the frame to replace Pat Gilroy as Dublin hurling manager.

Gilroy resigned after less than a year in charge last night due to work commitments, leaving the Dublin county board with an unexpected vacancy. Mattie Kenny, who has led Cuala to the last two All-Ireland club titles and has heavily been linked to the Waterford vacancy in recent weeks, is the early favourite after losing out to Gilroy last year.

Former Galway manager Anthony Cunningham, who was part of Gilroy's management, is also expected to throw his hat in the ring.
