The time has come for Limerick to deliver on the senior stage, insists Diarmaid Byrnes.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's must-win Division 1B encounter with All-Ireland champions Galway, the 2015 All-Ireland winning U-21 captain told gaa.ie: "Definitely there is a bit of an expectation and a bit of a buzz.

"That comes from winning games, if we were out there barely scraping over the line there would be no following.

"You want to be winning games creating that buzz and I think we are. We are in a position that we wanted to be in when we started out a couple of months back.

"We are in that position now, we are here, we have given ourselves an opportunity to get promotion and hopefully it will go our way.

"Generating momentum, getting confidence in the team, our fans are super like that. When we do build that momentum, get the crowd behind us Limerick hurling is fantastic.

"There is tradition and if we get the crowd behind u and plenty of people following us you can keep winning games and you would never now what could happen."
