Shane Dowling marked his return from injury with an early contender for goal of the year in this afternoon's All-Ireland club SHC semi-final at Parnell Park.

Introduced as a half-time sub with Na Piarsaigh trailing underdogs Slaughtneil by three points, the Limerick star blocked down goalkeeper Oisin O'Doherty's attempted clearance before flicking the ball up and volleying it to the net to give the 2016 All-Ireland champions a 3-12 to 2-8 lead with eight minutes remaining.

Dowling also set up Kevin Downes for a crucial 41st minute goal after Na Piarsaigh - who won out on a 3-15 to 3-8 scoreline - had been reduced the 13 men following the dismissals of Conor Boylan and Tommy Grimes in the first five minutes of the second half.
