John Conlon was delighted to win in Nowlan Park for the first time last Sunday.

Speaking to the Clare Champion after Clare's 2-18 to 1-18 victory, the centre forward enthused: "I believe that it is 16 years since we last won in Nowlan Park. this is my 10th year in the panel and we hadn't won down here.

"We had played a few and had been close, losing by a point or two. It was great to get a win. We always knew Kilkenny were going to come back in the second half. We dug it out in the end, which was pleasing.

"Eighteen wides and still win in Nowlan Park is a good day's work. We have been working hard. Our conversion rate was at 75 per cent last week against Tipperary. It was fairly bad today, and we need to work on that and take the right options and if we can do that, we are on the right road."
