Carlow forward Eddie Byrne is in no doubt that the win over Kerry last weekend has saved their season.
A second successive defeat in the NHL Division 2A campaign would have effectively took their chances of promotion out of their own hands. However, an impressive workmanlike performance against Kerry earned a merited two points.
The win brings Carlow right back into contention as they head into a break this weekend and Byrne admitted to the Carlow Nationalist that a defeat to the Kingdom would have been a disaster.
"A massive win," stated Byrne. "It is not easy to come down to Kerry. They had a very good performance against London the first day and scored 2-30. We knew what we were coming to. They are very good and it is very tough to get a win down here."
