Dublin's Allianz Hurling League victory over Antrim in Corrigan Park was just the response manager Pat Gilroy was looking for after their shock opening day loss to Offaly.

"It was a good response to last week," Gilroy told the Irish Daily Star after the 0-23 to 0-22 win.

"In the first 60 minutes, we really, really worked hard. Our shooting wasn't what it should have been, we'd far too many easy chances that we missed, but it was very satisfying to get that response because it was twice the work-rate of last week.

"I thought we didn't seem to get the rub of the green when it came to frees, we seemed to be giving away a lot of soft frees. But it's a difficult pitch, it was a tight pitch and that match was all about who had the bigger character to win it.

"We really shouldn't have let them back as close as we did. We dropped some silly mistakes in the last 10 minutes, but we showed great character to win it in the end."
