Injury concerns for Ballyragget

Kevin Kelly, St Patrick's Ballyragget gets away from Conor Shirren Kiltale during the Leinster Club IHC final at Pairc Tailteann.

Kilkenny and Leinster champions St Patrick's Ballyragget have injury concerns over two key players ahead of Saturday's All-Ireland club IHC semi-final against Mayo champions Tooreen at Cusack Park, Ennis.

Ballyragget are strong favourites to see off the challenge of their opponents, but their cause is not being helped by the loss of experienced full back Geoff Morrissey, while they are serious concerns over the fitness of county star Kevin Kelly.

It is expected that Kelly will start the game, but whether he is fit to last the 60 minutes or not remains to be seen as he recovers from a knee injury.

However, they will definitely have to plan without Morrissey who underwent surgery on his shoulder over the Christmas period and he has had to have a pin inserted, ruling him out of the remainder of the campaign.

Better news for the Kilkenny side is the return of Barry Staunton from a punctured lung and Seoirse Kenny who was injured during the Leinster final win over Wicklow champions Glenealy.
