Longford hurler Johnny Casey and his girlfriend, former Rose of Tralee finalist Caroline Doyle, have finally arrived home after a trip to New York to celebrate his 28th birthday turned into a nightmare.
The couple arrived in JFK on Thursday to catch their flight back to Dublin, only for it to be cancelled due to the big freeze which hit the east coast of America last week. They subsequently spent two nights sleeping on the floor of the airport, with only a single blanket and a pillow each, while the only food they had was a bottle of water and a packet of dry crisps each - there was nowhere to buy food because transport to and from JFK had ground to a halt.
Johnny made it home in time for Longford's Kehoe Cup game against St. Pat's / DCU yesterday, only for the weather to intervene again and cause it to be postponed.
Can someone tell Colm I won't make training tonight and might make it back to the match next week. #JFK @OfficialLDGAA pic.twitter.com/n0GNGHUgEa

Crazy here in #JFK I don't know when we will get home we were told the 9th was the closet to Dub. They could have cancelled flights before we got to airport so we could have sorted accommodation pic.twitter.com/z237QG8wje
